The Ys games have some of the best VGM's out there. what's

They probably have the most iterations of each sound track that I know of, but otherwise there are some good song, some great one, and a lot of boring ones. I used to have the whole album of the Sharp X68000 of Ys III which was really great, but I tried listening to the other iteration (there was a progressive rock one, a jazz fusion on, PC98 one, and the worst the SNES and Genesis

Yuzo Koshiro is my favorite composer although I have not played any Ys games. I really want it for my Master System tho

PC Engine versions had the best Ys soundtracks followed by PC-88/98 versions.

That happens a lot with series that have a particular style and feel to them, later composers actively try not to stand out. Look at how many composers Catlevania had yet the songs themselves are so similar they could all have been made by the same person.
