is the "enhanced edition' the best way to play or is just modding the gog version the best?
They are both terrible.
Download the CD and install it from there. That's how you should play it.

Besides your nostalgia, is there a real reason why I should?
I have all 11 of my floppy disks for tie fighter. I could spend two hours installing it from there and potentially getting read errors and start over again, or I cod just install it from a zip file.

When reading the novel based on your game is more fun than playing the game itself, you know you've made a shitty game.

I haven't touched the enhanced edition per se but knowing how Beamdog handled the other games like Icewind Dale and the like, there are bound to be some changes and even more cut contents here and there so that the game runs better in their engine. I'd say go for the GoG version and download the mods so you can customize it yourself while restoring some cut content and quests you might not get in the EE
