I don't post on /vr/ much, so please excuse me if this is common knowledge; if it is we can just discuss our experiences.
I just wanted to warn you all about aftermarket faceplates and shells for things. Modding your console is very fun, and I recently got into doing it for the PSP (I wanted a retro looking, clear shell; I know the PSP isn't retro but I figure some of you have considered modding older consoles and these will definitely require after market parts).
I didn't skimp out on the price and tried to get a nice looking shell off eBay but it still wouldn't fit properly. On the PSP 1000, the joystick is very pressure and weight sensitive because the contact with the motherboard is a silicon strip, so if things don't fit even the slightest it can and does cause the joystick to drift. It took me a lot of trial and error to realise this, and I even got replacement contacts/joysticks in vain. I ended up just going back to the market shell even though it's a bit rough round the edges/worse for wear from 8 years of use.
I'm very disappointed but at least I came away from it knowing how the guts of the console works and maybe if I feel like shelling out another 30 bucks I can try a different seller.
Have any of you guys ever successfully modded something? I've always wanted to do those flashy LED modifications to things, even if it is just a light.

cool blog. not. I've modded tons of shit but never riced anything because I'm not a faggot.
