IMO not trying to bait or anything but Ghost in the Shell was the better game in the Jumping Flash engine.

What happens if you run out of lives, does the game even save?

All 3 are great games. Jumping Flash 1 & 2 for their simplicity and charm, and GitS has fun gameplay, excellent presentation, and a fantastic soundtrack.

I dunno, maybe younger people that started with 6th gen, but back then everyone with a ps1 came across either JF1 and 2 at some point, they were common games and every magazine covered them. Sony didn't do a spectacular marketing campaign, admittedly, but the game was well known among anyone with any interest in video games around 1995 and 1996.

While I agree it's not on the "gem" level, JF is a pretty unique game, so "average" wouldn't be a word I'd choose either. It's a unique game that could be better. Mostly the complaints are that they're too short and easy. I don't know if those are legit complaints because there's a lot of good games that are short and/or easy, sounds more like a tryhard excuse to bash the game than anything else to me. However, yeah the games are not what I'd consider 10/10 or a gem, they're good games with unique controls and physics. There's nothing quite like JF out there.

It was a watered down JF. The game was developed with what was left of Exact after Sony dissolved them. IIRC, only one of the original guys worked on it.
Play it only if you really want more JF after playing 1 and 2.
