>tfw Quake II is not as fun or good as I remember
Who's fucking idea was it to completely remove aerial control and why does basically every enemy have hitscan weapons and why are there so many monster closets
The Quake franchise has always been "bad games with good engines that got used to make actually good games later".

Quake 1 and 3 are still good.

I played Quake earlier this summer and that one is still good, Q2 was the first Quake game I played and I really loved it as a kid.

You probably know this already but Quake 2 was a different game they slapped the Quake brand at the last minute.

Pretty much this
Quake II especially hasn't much beyond "Big McHuge fights Cyberfreaks in space"
Narrative in games has advanced beyond hyper conjectural blood-fests.
Quake is a horrible experience your first time through, but then you play it again and memorize the Quad damage points and everything goes smoothly.

There's actually a shitload of debriefing messages you can read if you press Tab. of course none of it matters. I don't think story was the problem with these games.

might be more fun if you play the dos port.

How's that different from Windows port in software mode
>>4209196
Doesn't crash on startup
Why do people like q3 when ut is better and older

Am I the only one that prefers the N64 version of Quake II?
