C'mon, OP...

Are you retarded? There's a lot of good action games if you just know where to look.

Though I have to admit that they are hidden in a sea of simulation, adventure and mahjong games.
>>
>>4205157
That's hardly a "hidden gem" bro. They even released it on the US VC.

All joking aside, are there any Mahjong Solitaire games for the Famicom or Mahjong games that offer that option? It's the variant where you play by yourself matching pairs and removing tiles.

I find it oddly relaxing.

They're called Shanghai.

Interesting. I did not realize they were called シャンハイ in Japanese. English Wikipedia refers to them as "Mahjong Solitaire".

Apparently, there's 7 different games for the Famicom.
>>
>>4205229
*5, not 7.
>>

Wait, I'm an idiot, those listed are all for the Super Famicom.

The FC ones are listed under ファミリーコンピュータ.

What the fuck did hou expect? Why the fuck did you think they are unreleased?

All of them are for Super Famicom though.

Thanks. Yeah, those two are the ones I found using other means. Learning Japanese is hard.

>>4205249
Yeah, I realized.

>>4205247
To be fair, there's also games actually worth playing there.

I know about a couple of interesting lookong shmups, though cannot remember any names. There was s thread not long ago when anon released a rom of one.

This is what the concept of budget games tends to be like in Japan.

When consoles started to adopt optical media, budget titles became a lot more notable, like the Sega Ages series and Simple XXXX series for PS1. Budget titles produced on cartridge-based media were still fairly expensive to manufacture. I guess this didn't leave much of a budget for writing and development.

Well, thinking from my perspective I would think it is not that simple. For example I am from germanistan and it is said that germanistaners love boring office simulations and manager office games. I consider myself a hardcore gamer, and I think those games are pure cancer and yes I know a bunch of germanistaners who really play these games and they pretty much only like to play that piss crap, and they don't play anything else very much. I also wouldn'T call them in any way gamers, as their horizont is very small and the games don'T mean very much to them. They are usually soccer fans and stuff like that, so not the brightest lights in the dark.

Anyway, the point I am trying to make is, yes stupid gamble games are successful in japan, because they are the commercial diarreah for the main stream. People who get addicted to trash, don't usually have time for a variety of things like a normal gamer. It's like a guy who gets addicted to reading fortune cookies compared to a guy who reads books.

Yeah, fortune cookies make much more profit and are much more made, so called easy money for shitty companies. And don'T get me started on candy crush...

Alright, turns out Shisen 1 and 2, as well as Trap and Tiles of Fate are all the weird variant where you can remove tiles that are "locked in" on both sides and it has some ball rolling around, no idea what that's about.

Shanghai 2, however, is everything I expected and wanted it to be.

The soundtrack has no right to be so absolutely jamming.

sunsoft bro, they never, ever dropped the ball on soundtracks. I didn't know about this Shanghai game though, I'm going to check it out to-nite on the $20 famiclone I just got in from China.
>>
>>4212589
Yeah, I should have known when I saw the Sunsoft logo. Love the soundtracks from their other NES games. However, for a "boring" puzzle game, that soundtrack is the bomb, did not expect that at all.

Too bad it's only three main tracks for the actual game, so no idea if it's still enjoyable after hearing those for an hour non-stop. Still, it gives you the option to choose your favourite track or mute it altogether, which is a nice feature for a Famicom game.
