I started collecting retro vidya 3-4 years ago but i quit pretty quickly because everything was super expensive.

In general have prices gone down or up?
Is this a good or bad time to start collecting?
>>

Prices will continue to go up until collectors start dying and their families just want to be rid of the crap.
>>
>>4201931
the ultimate redpill
>>
prices have peaked on most games and collectfags are in the nile
>>
>>4201931
That could be in only 20 years actually, when much of /vr/ folk would start getting into their 50s, aka heart attack age.

>collectfags
Poorfag detected. Get a job.
>>
>>4201931
people who are like 30 now will still be playing "the classics" when they are 60
>>
>>4201931
My Will will stipulate that my body is to be enshrined in my retro collection and that no one ever be allowed to play any of my games ever.

>Have the prices gone down
lol
no.
buy a flashcart or something.
>>

??????

I don't mean to be so pointed but retro video games are still a fairly cheap hobby if you have a steady source of income, hell, not even a particularly big one. Do you have a job OP?
>>
>>4202216
Yeah, I wouldn't call it cheap, but it only seems expensive for large collections but that's true for all time periods of games.
>>
>>4201930

Anything vintage is a for sure thing if you can get it for cheap. I remember when I had bought a CIB Mario 2 NES some time back for $14 shipped, now you see them selling anywhere from 30 to 50, which is pretty good considering how common the game is. As time goes on I think they will start to increase in $$, they are no longer making these things, and imo retro gaming is making a comeback, at least here in California.

your forsight must be 202020
>>
>>4202237
Yeah it's expensive if you want to build a large collection fast but most games still cost less than they retailed at brand new way back, unless it's something super rare. I buy a new game every couple of weeks usually, giving me time to play it rather than buying loads of games at once and never having time to play them all.
