I can't really comment, but of the three, rmme has positive reviews(steam) and the other 2 are mixed.

Not really an option for me. I got a slew of technical issues right now so I'd rather just use my retro vidya pc.

Some people swear by RealMyst Msterpiece, but I prefer the old slideshow style. Especially if you're going to play more than one game in the series (which you should), I don't see the point in playing Myst 1 in a fairly modern fully 3D style, then going back to slideshow/panoramic nodes for Myst 2-4.

Riven looks better than realmyst, so it worked out for me when I did it.

Just don't get any of the shitty console ports. Not a PC Lord, but I know a shitty ass port when I play it.

This, I feel like it is more consistent sticking with the slideshow in Myst for the series and if you play Myst you better play Riven because it is a masterpiece. However, it is worth taking a look at both styles and if you really like the realtime 3D go ahead and play that one.

You make a fair point. Are their any other advantages to Myst other than the transition to 3D? I personally feel like experiencing both could be nice and the jump back to 2d wouldn't hurt my enjoyment. Would I be better of with 3D for the first game?
