EDN8 doesn't passthrough expansion sound unless you've modded your NES to support it, or use a correctly wired adapter on a Famicom, for the record. That said, the hardware in both is exactly the same, so no it doesn't matter.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The Famicom version works out of the box on a Famicom for expansion audio (FDS and other supported expansion sound chips). If you use the NES version on a Famicom, the converter you use needs to be wired to pass expansion audio. Most cheap chinese adapters won't, but the adapter Krikzz sells does, it's like a resistor and an extra pin that needs to be wired correctly.

It's a pc-10 PPU AV Fami in combination with a Framemeister.
It does look pretty awesome, though I do prefer my HiDef Fami. Video is a bit crisper, no lag and it can emulate all sound chips flawlessly which also allows you to fix the N8's fucked up FDS audio.

I really have to say that game's music would give me a headache if I listened to it over a longer period of time regardless of it being played on an N8 or not...

Jealous, the only way I'd be willing to do RGB is with the PC-10 PPU. Shame they're so expensive and I'd feel guilty about it.

Honestly, there's really no reason to do something like this anymore nowadays.
Besides the whole 'it's not authentic BS' the NESRGB simply is the better choice.
You can configure it to use the same palette as the PC-10 making at least the palette used 'authentic', you don't have to harvest a PPU from a PC-10 and it doesn't have games it's simply not compatible with like the PC-10 PPU does.
I already have NESRGB and HiDEF consoles and merely did this one because I wanted to compare the result to the others.
As you can see, the mod is completely reversible though. Also put the heatsink back onto it after putting on a bit of arctic silver.
