>>
I finished every game on the GB/GBC library and it took me 2 years of like one hour playing each day. So...

>your life when you hit a console with tons of JRPGs
>>
>>4144836
that sounds like pure agony, even if you limited it to one machine
also, you'd need a win condition for endless games (unless your goal is to counterstop, in which case, good fucking luck)
>>
You should stream it
>>
Let me know tfw you run into a string of bland, obscure and Japan-only mahjong, pachinko, and horseracing games.
>>
>>4144836
There was a speedrunner who beat every single NES game and it apparently took him about three years. But he also did it very obsessively, playing games that could not technically be beat until he had completely exhausted every possibility, and even teaching himself how to play the piano for some dumb peripheral-based edugame. I think that if you were a little more reasonable about it and set limits in certain places, it wouldn't be too hard of a commitment.
Just don't include Japan-only games if you don't know Japanese.

I know that one, it was TheMexicanGamer, and him playing every single NES game and finishing his quest of NESmania is really great.

Also, The Mysterious Mr. Enter (yes, that one) made another channel called Challenge Accepted where he is now doing some video game playthroughs with challenges (self-imposed or not) and his new challenge is to beat all of the licensed North American games for the PS1, which includes everything like really shitty games like Rascal and Bubsy 3D, well-beloved classics like the Final Fantasy games and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, creativity games like RPG Maker, kids' games like Sesame Street: Elmo's Letter Adventure, sports games like NBA Live '97, unreleased games like Baldur's Gate, arcade ports like Time Crisis and updated ports from other consoles like Final Fantasy Anthology and Castlevania Chronicles.

He won't do Japan and PAL exclusives like LSD: Dream Emulator or Pepsiman.

He already played six games which are (in no particular order): Spyro 1, Crash Bandicoot 1, South Park: Chef's Luv Shack, Rascal, Ape Escape 1 and Bob the Builder: Can We Fix It?.

Some guy on /v/ did something like this. He tried to beat an NES game a day.

I'm pretty sure he gave up.

When people think of videogames they probably focus on shmups, platformers, RPGs, fighting games, mainstream puzzle games, beat em ups, etc and forget about the sea of edutainment, baby games, board games, card/mahjong/casino/pachinko games, strange simulators, and other things that would drive most gamers who don't happen to share that other niche interest mad. Like the previously mentioned Miracle Piano would probably not be feasible for someone without some degree of music background and some casino games might get pretty boring/not be feasible for people who don't have some amount of knowledge of whatever card games are covered.

And then there's stuff like:

oh believe me, i already glanced through the NESGB library and i know the gigantic amount of pachinko/horse racing games in there. as long as they are beatable (or can be made beatable) they're fair game

thankfully i know how to play piano as well so miracle piano won't be as painful as it was for TMR

i can understand english, spanish and german so anything in those languages (or with translation patches in those languages) must be beaten. japanese games, i will try them for as long as i can

TheMexicanRunner you mean, yeah it was a fantastic achievment. I watched him finish his last game too, he was very emotional. He's a lovely guy.
>>
>>4144850
Literally every?

or just the good ones?
>>
>>4145813
it would take him less than an hour to beat the good ones

i'm implying the gb/c library sucks btw
>>
>>4145010
>six games
Wow its fucking nothing.

Let me know when he's gone through 50% of the games and I'll be interested.
>>
>>4145823
I wouldn't say it sucks.

It just isn't that enormous.

Plenty of quality games, although that goes for most libraries.

He already uploaded the first part of his Yu-Gi-Oh!: Forbidden Memories playthrough, and he is going for 100% completion, which means it will probably take more than 100 hours to get all of the cards.

And he said he will try and go for 100% completion for most of his games, if not all of them.
>>
>>4144836
somebody on twitch is doing all english snes games (including fan translations) and has beaten 500+ games so he might actually do it since he has passed the midway point.

>>4144971
>Just don't include Japan-only games if you don't know Japanese.
true. Even if you figure out how the game plays it will be quite dull as you dont understand dialogue and stuff like that. Not to mention who people would feel when they have to learn the basics of japanese games like mahjong, shogi or hanafuda

>>4145042
The whole "beaten" thing is a problem in games that dont have a defined ending. FF IV has a proper ending but what a about sport games? Can you say that tekken 1 is done if you clear the arcade mode with one character? Is it okay to use easy difficulty when available? What if the game just loops indefinitely? These are questions that are open to arguments.

Example TheMexicanRunner who did the all nes games did not beat Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters and Desert Commando in a way that I could consider them to be beaten. TMR is still only person who actually states what was the winning condition. Every other guy just states games X took four hours without any indication what was the goal to call the game beaten.

Still there are some crazy things like that one guy who wants to play all mega drive games played a mahjong game for 120+ hours to get the highest rank in the game
>>
>>4147551
When Mr. Enter played South Park: Chef's Luv Shack and Bob the Builder: Can We Fix It?, he just had to beat all of the minigames to consider them beat.
>>
>>4147551
This is why this is stupid. The Chrontendo guy simply has the goal to play and review every game and it's taken him years to get just to 1990 but he's playing EVERY Famicom and NES game.
>>
>>4144836
spend your time more wisely
>>
>>4148785
The first mistake he made was to start his sega and turbo projects. If he had concentrated all of his energy to the nes project he might have able to finish it but with his current pace he might never finish these projects. He is selective about what how much he plays games. Some he might go all the way to the the end while other games he will play for a hour and say "I've seen enough of this". Sadly he is not free from the biggest sin; having little or no japanese skills while doing this project so he's view can be quite limited in some regards.
