On the first and second pics, you can't tell if it is true or fake.
>>
The fake is of far greater value, in it’s deliberate attempt to be 'real', it’s more real than the real thing.

But on this one, you can see that the sticker is cheaper on the fake one.

I've heard that if you shove the gameboy up your ass, you should be able to tell the difference

On this one, the fake one have not the same strews and the numbre on the board is not the same.

Finally, writing is bigger on the real one. Have you ever heard about fake Gameboy ?
>>
>>4137060
or maybe they just came out of different product lines
>>
Yeah, i think you're just retarded, OP.

If anything, the first one looks like a very early production model, maybe even a late prototype? It'd make sense to me. The 06-board version looks like it just fine-tuned some small details from the 05-board. Perhaps a better sticker (though it's entirely possible someone just ripped off the first one), switched to the still-in-use tri-wing screws, made the text on the back of the casing a little bolder to avoid manufacturing issues.

...Yeah. I'm pretty sure you're just retarded, OP.
>>
>>4137059
Honestly that doesn't look like a fake. More like made a month later with different quality ABS plastic, resulting in small differences.

But if you want to make sure, you should open it up and check if it uses Nintendo labelled chips, or generic ones or glob tops.
>>
>>4137060
Look, I love old Nintendo things, but why the fuck does it matter? So long as it works.

BTW, that isn't a fake.
>>
Okay, thank you guys. You are awesome

How to tell the world you're suicidal

that gameboy also has philips "+" screws, and the text is similarly close to the frame as yours

either your "fake" is very common or it isn't one, don't know

Older revisions of the Game Boy definitely used Philips head screws, and there were a couple different types of serial number stickers (some of the Play it Loud ones have a barcode). Console hardware revisions happen all the time and they're pretty much all documented somewhere on the internet.

>>

Those aren't Philips screws; they're JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard).
>>
>>4137063
Look again, the fake one doesn't use the shitty nintendo proprietary screws
>>
>>4137075
And that proves what? It's a 20 year old used hardware, the screw could have been replaced by anyone. And other Gameboys are known to come with the cross screws as well, so that alone proves nothing.
>>
I have 20 or so DMGs and a few have those screws. its not a fake
>>
>>4137060

Trust me anon, nobody went through the trouble of fucking up that gameboy by even putting a fake well worn serial number sticker glue there. That piece of shit is worth $20, nobody would waste their time
>>
The First run of the original had both crosshead screws and black goo on chips. Look at the motherboard and search for Nintendo's markings and stuff but keep in mind that it may be an older revision or a regional one.
>>
If the fake is indistinguishable from the real one then why is it a problem?
>>
>>4138572
the fake one is really an Atari Lynx in disguise.

I'd buy it
>>
Looks like the real one only has the addition of the authentic kid grime in the recesses.
>>
>>4137075
it's 100% possible that nintendo wasn't using proprietary screws from the start and they switched to doing that later on, like on their sixth hardware revision maybe?
>>
>>4137053
kek, op doesn't understand hardware revisions
>>
>>4139745
what did you expect from someone who buys Nintendo hardware? Anything that isn't the original revision is a Chinese clone to them.
>>
>>4137055
Oshino, please.
>>
>>4137063
Also faking an entire console just seems like way too much effort to be worth it in the long run unlike faking Pokemon carts.

The one on the right has a 50% chance of being a VA7 which you REALLY don't want to end up with.

Do you have pics of the rear ports?

The one on the left is real. The right one is fake.
>>
>>4137053
Pics of the screen tuned on + screen blur tests? I doubt a fake would be identical in that regard.
