Holy shit this stuff was worth every penny. Games have all become a charm to play and without the sore thumb. Best 100$ spent on retro.

>Best 100$ spent on retro.
>100$
This is a 18+ board.
I hear they are good, but I'm concerned about the dead zones on the stick, for playing games like Starfox or Sin and Punishment for example.

Maybe he's not a native speaker.

>>4125763
I'm a French native speaker. What should I have said a hundred bucks? A Franklin? Do you use burger devise? like 100$ = 30 burgers?
Fine then. That import cost me 30 burgers.
>>4125763
9 times out of 10 on this site, it's some dumb underage posting the dollar sign after the amount.
>>4125775
What games actively use the d-pad? Bangai-o is the only one that comes to mind. For those, you can just swap to a regular controller since they most likely won't need the stick.
>>4125742
How come Nintendo made such an awefull controller? Nothing is as bad as the N64 controller
this is my first time seeing this, were these officially licensed, proto gamecube controllers? looks like it'd be perfect to use.
>>4125783
Americans are the only retards in the world who put the currency before the number, just like they are too retarded to use the metric system.
>>4125796
It's actually a great controller, its only problem is the stick becoming loose after Mario Party. Otherwise it has good ergonomics, good button placement, etc.
You never really saw bad controllers? Check out Atari Jaguar. There's a lot of funny madcatz and all those crazy 3rd party pads that are ridiculous too, Microsoft also released a bunch of weird shit for PC.

Im so glad I bought my 4 hori-mini's years ago when they were still 25 bucks and you retards didn't start making youtube videos on them and push the price to 100 fucking dollars.
>>4125742
The Hori Mini-Pad may be more comfortable and ergonomic than the official N64 controller, but the analog stick is also less precise.
>>4125878
Do you own one? Try one?
I do and I disagree.

>>4125789
The Aki wrestling games like WrestleMania 2000, No Mercy, and Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 all are d-pad primary games I loved.
>>4125802
The controller is actually kind of tiny. Cramped and uncomfortable like a stock Dreamcast controller.
>>4125876
Shit, I regret to this day only buying one back then because everyone brought their own controller for the N64 when we all would meet. I did not have the foresight to get multiples. Now they are around $65USD each for a used one. Just one was enough, but I didn't have the money to get more than one then either.
>>4125878
This is why I am still hoping for the 3D printings of the bowl to get cheap for the standard sticks.
>>4125789
I like it in Goemon.
are there any easy ways to refurbish a N64 controller stick, then grease it so it lasts a lifetime?
>>4125967
i just gave up and got a GCN to N64 controller adapter. It's pretty decent, but you have to switch it out for memory card saves because the dude didn't put any components in it to read the MC.

Could you gut a regular n64 controller and switch the analog sticks and pad so it's better?
Is there anything good to use for F-Zero that's not $100? Every n64 controller i have feels totally different from one another, i mean it's bearable with the stock controller, but still
>>4125858
What I've never understood is how so many N64s lost the cover to the RAM expansion slot. I mean, logically speaking, you should only ever need to open it once, unless you have Space Station Silicon Valley.

why cant someone just precisely remold the stick, bowl, and gears for the OEM controller?
First the gears go, then the bowl, then the stick.
The aftermarket replacements now use some shitty potentiometer system that feels like shit
>>4126023
Thats one of the things ive always had issues with since the N64 came out.
That and the reset buttons were troublesome after time.
I have two black versions and only 1 has the expansion cover
>>4126249
I ended up buying the gears from Kitsch Bend and it seems to work for me. Can't comment on the bowls they sell, I just used epoxy to fill my old bowl and sanded it down. Greased it up. Works fine.
>>4125858

>Metric system is trash, champ.
Aaaand this is why America is fucked up. It caught the dumbs.
Daily reminder you didn't want to adopt RGB on consoles because you were not the country that came up with SCART, and are still kinda stuck on composite to this day.
>>4125916
I wish I got better colours, all mine are red, I would've loved a few of the two tone ones.
>we all used to bring our own N64 controllers
God I wish my friends did this. I was always hauling my entire setup around whenever someone wanted to play Smash or Mario party.
Fucking sucks because a bunch of my Official controllers have been raped by Mario party.

>>4126020
For under $10USD, as no one wants one, there's the UltraRacer64. It is weird, but all the buttons are remappable which could help. In theory it could work great for F-Zero.
>>4126778
Yeah, snow white looks great. I went with the clear blue because it was the color of my stock N64 controller I brought to identify mine. All my friends stuck with their choice color so there was no confusion who owned which controller. You are the hero though and set up the party for everyone.
>>4126532
They always had the gears, but the bowl is new! Glad to see they have those in now! Fair price too! I will have to buy some next month (since I have don't have anything to spare from my next paycheck).
>>4126634
>?why
>>4126634
Because it looks dumb. When you are using USD, the dollar sign goes before the amount. I understand that other currencies are different, but not following proper punctuation rules makes you look ignorant.
>>4125747
>m-muh special rules
Are you going to cry when someone posts temperature and it comes out to be in Celsius?
>>4126207
I mean, it's probably possible with modding to change the button color. I didn't bother with that, but you probably could.
>>4127047
I've seen a modding site that recolours the controllers but not the buttons. Maybe a certain kind of paint is needed
>>4125858
superior controller coming through. I have 4 superpads
>>4125782
You should still know where to put the dollar sign, idiot.
Doesn't it use a gc stick?
Has anyone tried to play F Zero X on one? I can't use any controller other than the original n64 controller owing to the sensitivity required.
>>4127071
Played it on the Wii with GC conroller, it's pretty good
>>4127071
It's not a GC stick. It feels like one, but the tracking isn't all fucked up as if I played for example Goldeneye with a GC stick, it plays smoothly.
>>4125789
Or you could just do maintenance on your original N64 controller and you wouldn't need two controllers.
>>4126006
I'm like 400th on waitlist and the dude takes 2-4 weeks just to make one stick. Really don't understand guys like this.
All he has to do is
>make huge batch
>open orders
>start sending out orders
>simultaneously start making new batch
>repeat until he's dead
He's charging $100$ for each stick and cosmetic choices will inflate the price up to $120$. The dude will be swimming in money and yet he's doing things in the most unoptimal way. Not to mention if he did follow my process he'd be able to buy new machines that might help him speed up the making process.
He's almost as bad as badassconsoles guy but nobody can compare to him
>>4125803
Best part is we only do it for dollars and not cents.
>>4127543
Why the fuck are people paying 100 bucks for that shit?
>>4127656
>Cuz the parts don't break no more and steel is koool
Not really sure desu senpai but it's not like I'll ever get the chance to spend 100 on it, maybe when I'm 50 I'll be up on the waitlist
>>4127665
Just steal his design and reverse engineer it.
Honestly, it'd be easier to just get some replacement 360 sticks or something and build new good quality contorllers.
>>4127674
Honestly if I could I would. Could always just start 3D printing out the shit and selling it
>>4125803

>>4127543
He does do batches, they're just really slow. It's definitely deliberate though. Did you see the stick he auctioned off to the impatient? It went for $680. He's going to make insane money doing things slow like this unless he gets competition.
>>4128402
I know he does "test" batches. But as far as twitter says he's only up to stick 60. So maybe they're just really small batches of like 10? Didn't see the auction but really not surprised. He knows how to market himself, giving away steel sticks to top 64 players so that everyone gawks and wants their own
>>4128498
Yeah, I think you're right; the last batch was 10.
>>4128548
What a cuck. He stands to make so much more money without any competition if he just pumps these out at a higher rate or does bulk sales
Not a huge fan of the Hori Mini myself. I still like the original N64 controllers best. The Hori is just too small and the button placement just feels awkward to me.
I've managed to stock pile several good OEM controllers, some with damn near perfect joysticks, and I usually try and buy any I come across in the wild that are still good.
Hopefully with more options becoming available for replacements, fewer people will be after some of the better 3rd party controllers and they'll settle down in price a bit.
>>4125742
My OEM n64 sticks get fucked up from my four year old son dropping them on their face all the time
Never have kids /vr/
>>4128586
how do they get fucked up? just scuffed up and chipped? or joysticks getting busted? if they keep dropping them, keep the good ones put up somewhere, and give your kid a shitty one that you don't care about. maybe even put one of those GC style sticks in it.

>decimals exist in numbers IE: 3.5

>>4125883
>Do you own one? Try one?
Yes, I do, and he's objectively correct. The angles are less consistent and the acceleration range goes beyond the N64's maximum, which means you reach top acceleration before the joystick touches the gate. It's much harder to do precise adjustments with a Hori Pad.
>>4126773
>and are still kinda stuck on composite to this day.
Everyone uses HDMI now though.
>>4129281
I can confirm this as well. Many things are more difficult on Hori, and many other things are easier. If you buy a Hori expecting an easy, permanent, seamless transition from the original controller then you may be disappointed. It largely depends on the games you play.
>>4126773
DESU, Scart is a REALLY shitty connector, more likely to damage damage the receptacle than the plug.
American plug standards are based on the idea that if you can't make it rugged, make it cheap to replace.
I've spent enough time around SCART to know that if you plug/unplug it more than 10 times, you run the risk of it going looser than a vagina after childbirth.
Component is far more rugged. Each signal has its own signal pin and ground shielding, and it uses a cheap standardized connector that is easy to replace.
The female receptacles are built like tanks, and nearly impossible to damage in normal use.
>>4129281
which version of the GC replacement is that?
there's a V2 where the pcb was updated and it is switchable between the hori style and original n64 deadzones.

Anybody have experience with the Kitsch Bent N64 bowls? Their replacement gears were great so I placed an order for a few bowls to fix some really fucked up controllers. Just wondering what other people here think of them.
