There is absolutely no reason why you would need to play a remade version of a game to get the most enjoyment out of it unless it was originally an IBM PC pile from 1983.

Playing the original gives you the proper frame of reference for a game. It lets you see how it might have been received at the time, it lets you see what the remakes could improve on.

OP The GBA Version is pretty great. It has a better translation, and it has a lot of optional post game content thats very difficult once you learn how to break the base game open.

You can't switch between characters with L and R in the magic and equipment subscreens in the SFC version like you do in psx and gba. I'd go with gba with patched sound and graphics.

Depends on the remake. Things like Crash N-Sane Trilogy are allowed as it's basically a fresh coat of paint, but Tomb Raider Anniversary is not as it's an entirely different game

I rolled Zerker Freelancer Samurai Magicknight in a chaos fiesta, it was boring so I stopped before even getting to Galuf's world. I did just finish a regular run this year though.
