Sword of Hope is a neat old-school RPG that isn't too hard to find, the sequel can be a bit pricier though.

Living in Japan and just now getting into the game boy, I've found a ton of cool things which I don't think get too much coverage in the west. And most are pretty cheap, too. I'll try and remember to make a more detailed write up sometime later.

But for the meantime, let me recommend X, which might actually be the best game on the system.
