I don't think these two are canon now just because the game is getting a limited release. I'm not expecting to see them in any upcoming Star Fox games, assuming the series isn't kill after the colossal failure of Zero.

Super Castlevania IV is considered not-canon due to differences on the return of Dracula, and Haunted Castle because they add a lot of non-canon lore to the original plot.

Starfox has multiple official canons and they are all equally fantasy. It doesn't matter what nintendo uses or doesn't use next.

Really there's no such thing as "not canon", only "not canon with". When people say "not canon", they're talking about a work that was disowned or never legitimized by a particular author or authority, this never happened to any of the officially produced starfox games.

Starfox 2 is being released by Nintendo for consumption by their audience. Why does it matter that the release is limited? Your disqualification is arbitrary.

It's a sequel to starfox. It's in the same canon as starfox.

If its barely more than the one we have now, I can see why they had no qualms about cancelling it.

But if the full game has on-rail levels for planets and boss fights, it will be awesome.

I don't know which I believe is more likely. It's hard to believe that their idea for levels was activating two switches in a small area then going into a hut and destroying a core, for every single planet. Battleships are defeated the same way without an exterior section. Andross is a real boss fight and it would be strange if he was the only one. Sure we have star wolf and mirage dragon, but that's dog fights and not traditional starfox bosses.

While I believe it will be a more complete version than the ones floating around already, Nintendo has already set a precedent for using publicly hosted ROMs on both the Virtual Console as well as the NES mini. So I wouldn't say it's "obvious" they wouldn't use those ROMs. Though it is unlikely, if only for the fact that Argonat themselves confirmed otherwise.

Star Fox Command was deemed not canon by Nintendo. I can't take anything you say seriously, knowing you don't know that. Also canon is a baseline for a series that contains all current information. It's not some umbrella cipher for the Theory of Everything. Anything is not canon if it doesn't mesh with that base.

Like Dragon Ball Super is not canon because Goku fights Kid Buu reincarnated at the end of Z, who he implicitly confides to Vegeta to be the weakest Buu during their fight in Otherworld. They can do a universal reset at the end of Super, but then you invoke Death of the Author - at some point you can just say "this is bullshit. I don't have to accept this as canon" if it's not kilter to what you know. In this case that nothing particular happened in that 10 year time-skip.
