>Going outside games

How did these become popular again?

There was no alternative.

Yeah X-Arcade was one of my favorite video games back in the 80s, I must have put $1000 worth of quarters into that thing. Guess you had to have been there to really "get it".
>>4078098
Then WTF were these doing in living rooms?
git gud or git pur
>>4078117
Why tho
>>4078110
Inferior hardware
>>4078096
Graphics far better than anything home consoles had to offer

People back then weren't such entitled autistic little shits, so being outside and dealing with other people wasn't seen as some horrible chore.

>tell your mom you're going outside with friends
>get to play vidoe games
>>4078096
Arcade ports mostly had weaker graphics and easier ai. You only get the real deal going to the arcades.
Mortal Kombats Ai is easier on the snes.

>Mortal Kombats Ai is easier on the snes.
And that's a GOOD thing.

Because there's nothing, still to this day, like the experience of being in an arcade. The sound is awesome.

How did movie theaters become popular again?
>>4078461
Subjective. Anyway we have to keep in mind arcades existed to suck up coins and provide a challenge.
I did find Motaro to be cheap for the arcade Mk3 version though.
>>4078096
>better hardware
>always new games
>always new people to play with
>cool social experience

Love how Mario looks like he's wearing a onesie with his hands in his pockets.

>Why have movie theaters continued to exist since the invention of television?
At one time, arcade machines were light years ahead of anything on a home console. You had a console to quell your cravings when you couldn't be at an arcade. Arcades were where the real games were. Arcades didn't crash until home consoles were finally capable of matching them in graphics & sound. Aside from that, before home consoles had reliable online modes, arcades were still the best option for fighting games.

Those are the Atari 2600 versions, Coleco had better hardware and more arcade faithful conversions.
>>4078110
Those things were busy providing people with blocky, inferior imitations of arcade games.
X-arcade made such shitty fight sticks and sold them at ridiculous prices
