Ever since I started playing Oblivion a few years ago, I've wanted to try some of the older games and get lost in some blissful 90’s roleplaying. When Bethesda announced that Daggerfall would be free to download from their website, I was ecstatic. Already having been familiarized with DosBox through other endeavors, I downloaded, unzipped, and attempted to load up TES2: Daggerfall. Errors flooded my screen, and after a little google searching, I found out that there was a little more depth to getting this old gem running. I won’t get into details here, but the process of installing and starting the game is lengthy and a lot can go wrong throughout. The guide I used can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=373598278. After installing the game and following the setup instructions exactly, I booted the game, picked my race, and was immediately greeted with “daggerfall has encountered error 0” and “daggerfall code 209 not found in”. Obviously, I checked my config files and destination files to see if it was a referencing issue, but everying was pointed where it needed to be. Googleing these errors brings up a lot of forum posts detailing the same issues, but no answers. I’ve almost thrown the towel in, but hopefully, someone here was daring enough to play some classic TES and willing to lend me some advice or troubleshooting.
IMPORTANT INFO:
I am using a 32-bit Windows 7 machine and running DosBox 0.74 off of a 16gb USB due to complications involving administrator privileges.
If anyone can tell me anything, or has experienced and overcome the same problem I describe, please enlighten me. I love The Elder Scrolls, and I want to experience the classic DOS games in their true form.
Have you tried using the DaggerfallSetup installer found here http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files

daggerfallSetput is unfortunately not an option, due to installation issues. im hoping to get my current version working with dosbox (no additional downloads)
I have Arch and I seems to remember that Daggerfall it's in the AUR, maybe if you want to really play, set up a virtual box
Arena and Daggerfall have GOG versions, but I think you need to buy the other games to get them or something like that. Been playing Arena and it's fun as fuck.

Yeah, I've so far gotten Arena, Ultima Underworld (1+2), Doom, System Shock, and some others. Of course, it's all moot now, because I had just put the wrong paths in my z.cfg because im a fucking retard
