Been playing the Megaman legacy collection recently.
Got through 1 and 2 without much trouble but damn I forgot how much 3 is a step up in difficulty.
Classic megaman thread?

3 is such a good game, shame it has those Doc Robot levels that drag it down
2 and 6 are my favorites. The GB 5 was also really unique.
I haven't played 7, 8, 9 or 10, can't wait to try those on Legacy Collection 2

Damn didn't even know there was gonna be a legacy collection 2 now I'm excited. I've played 1/2/3/4/9/10 10 and 9s probably the hardest one I've played, such a good game.
Also best box art
There are plenty of hacks which make MM games better. Lag reduction patches, bug fixes, etc
For MM3, there is "Improvement" which gets rid of all lag, fixes a lot of glitches, and also has some other additions/changes which you may or may not like
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/992/
For Rockman 4 (doesn't work with MM4), lag reduction patch, there are two patches, one "standard" lag reduction, and another one which also changes other things like being able to switch weapons on the fly (but also gets rid of the autoscroll sections...)
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock4Optimization_v3.zip
For Rockman 5, but these ones also works with MM5. Lag reduction patch:

Lets you say switch weapons on the fly (select, down+select, select+start):
http://rock5easily.sakura.ne.jp/archive/rock5_weaponselect.zip
Rockman 6 (does not work with MM6):
Lag reduction patch but also speeds up the process of many things, like loading times, scrolling when entering a room, etc:
http://www.geocities.jp/borokobo/zip/Rock6Optimization101.zip
Fixed sliding. In the original MM6, and unlike other MM games, you couldn't jump during a slide, plus there is a small delay, wait time, at the end of a slide. This fixes both:

With both patches applied, RM6 becomes 100% more fun.

It's so funny how they made an anniversary collection in 2004 or so with mega man 1-8, two extra arcade games, bonus content like concept art and a mini documentary, and like a decade later they release another one with just mega man 1-6.

As far as MM1-6 are concerned, the Anniversary Collection sucks though.
It uses the "Rockman Complete Works" PS1 versions and they have some serious sound/music issues.
You have the choice between playing with the original musics, or remade ones. The original musics sounds like they were recorded using a webcam mic posted in front of desktop speakers, and I'm probably not that far off the hook. Then if you play with the remade musics, you're forced to play with a gigantic unfitting hud, and robot "helpers" everywhere to help you where you don't need (telling me to jump down that hole when it's literaly the only way to go? really?). On top of that they somehow made loading times to open the weapon menu longer.
Either way there are sound issues on top of it, like for instance charge shot sound not cancelling when it should, it's a mess.
The only advantage is that those versions have neither any lag nor any sprite flickering.
However that's something you can reproduce on NES too, for the lag either using the patches I just mentionned, or overclocking your emulator. For the flickering, emus can help most of it too.

The legacy collection adds completely brand new stages as well though as well as shit loads of extra content to look at and read about.

>brand new stages
What?
>>4068147
Theyre locked behind amiibo but there's 11 new stages
What happened with megaman 10, /vr/?
I remember people going crazy over 9, but 10 feels like it was forgotten or even ignored
>>4068735
Because Capcom thought it would be funny to not actually do anything new with 10. I can understand people were so glad to play an NES-style Classic Megaman game again, but 10 basically felt like it was just 9-2.
Mega Man had something new added to his repertoire each game, but MM10 decided that that's not what the "fans" wanted.
I can't stop playing Power Battle, underrated series.
I just achieved a speedrun of the MM7 course, 2'15"18 and no damage taken

MM9 was huge because it largely contributed to the "retro game throwback" trend. When MM10 came out, that novelty wear off. Great game though, I like 9 the best myself.
