I was a real Sega kid during the big one and Sonic was the right mascot for the age but I never really loved Sonic games personally. It's an interesting feeling now in 2017 to see the boy make a return.

But, I do not agree with the premise of this thread. Sonic deserved all the spotlight it got from Sonic 1 to Sonic and Knuckles.
But other characters should have recognition.
