Took me around 20 hours or so to beat SMT2?
A lot of that is just getting prepared in the early stages of the game. Grinding money and Energy for your demons.
There's a huge difficulty curve though, the beginning is piss easy then there is a spike then it's easy again mainly because Magic is terrible yet some enemies are only able to take damage from it.
Seriously, I didn't use any offense magic after using it twice and seeing it's awful
Overall, very easy in the early-mid game due to nerve bullets and easy in the end if you use your head. I even had a bug where if you buff your atk over a set amount, It wraps around to do single digit damage on the final boss and still beat him

Nope, No Orden.
AG patch is okay. I played on a PS Vita through Henkaku and there was a fuckton of bugs along with spell names being pretty hard to understand.
For example, I would stay buffed even if the enemy used Dekaja which is supposed to debuff you and the descriptive text even says this but I would get debuffed only when an enemy used the skill which says "Returned Demons to Original power"
Not sure if a bug or not or if the names were switched but there is a few problems

There's an incomplete Orden patch, but all it does is fix demon types, I think. Go get it in smtg. He's never finishing it because his computer got fucked and he lost all his work.

If you know Spanish, play his version of that. Apparently it's the best version. The weird demon conversation is fixed, despite Gideon saying OMG IT KAN NEVAH BE DUN??//

I want to play SMT1 because it has a really unique setting and atmosphere but the combat is just not interesting enough for how frequent random encounters are of. The second game seems to have both better gameplay and a more sensible encounter rate.

i can't play smt 1, but i played through 2 on neutral and got to satan, who was insanely difficult fo rme because i'd spent the whole game using a gun with panic bullets to auto win, and just couldn't survive the damage / heal through his damage

i like smt 2 a lot.

I used the nerve/sleep bullets but I made sure my gear was always up to date, MC was a strength/Stamina build and he was hitting 184 DMGx3-5 every turn when buffed twice

I actually just beat II on neutral. On most of the bosses late game I just used a combination of Divine Retribution and Deathbound. I was surprised by how quickly YHVH went down. I had a harder time with Lucifer honestly.

Ah yes I was hoping for a classic SMT thread here. The SMT thread on /vg/ is awful.

Anyway I'm playing SMT1 now and it's pretty solid so far. Don't really see why people shit it on so much. I've heard SMT2 is better in every way possible so that should be fun.

The Megaten threads on /vg/ are Nocturne vs SJ 24/7 and the ones on /v/ vary wildly but are mostly a Persona 5 circlejerk, which stands to reason as it just came out.

Both SMT1 and 2 are plenty fun games, although a warning with SMT2 that there's annoying backtracking.
