It's very good but I prefer Ducktales and, I'm sorry, mr. Gimmick

Almost a perfect game.

I hate the tanooki leaf powerup, fuck any powerup in a platformer game that lets you just fly over the stages
I hate the item equipment system
Levels are too short

I only like the fortress stages pretty much

Kirby's Adventure approaches the brilliance of SMB3. The other three don't even come close.

It's a freaking fantastic game. Definitely in the NES top five. The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania I and III, Contra, and SMB II are contenders as well. Also, Mega Man 2-4, Bionic Commando, Blaster Master, and Ninja Gaiden I-III are contenders as well. A dark horse candidate that I would nominate is the "Lone Ranger" game, that one is actually pretty badass.

Gimmick! is a stellar game for sure, but SMB3 has quality AND quantity in spades, whereas Gimmick! just has quality. Bucky O'Hare and Darkwing Duck are similar. Kirby's Adventure is a fairer comparison.

Perhaps the criteria of ULTIMATE game should be defined here?

Let see:
- challenge
- lenght
- mechanics variety
- the games should appeal to person who might not be into genre
- graphics / musics / sound effects / aesthetic

and many more I believe still.

I know it isn't as good, but my favourite is Bionic Commando. It's so awesome to just get around in that game
