Hi guys. Here's a little pretty question for you all. When I was a child I managed to beat videogames one by one even the hardest ones. But when I first discovered emulation I wasn't able to complete Contra or Battletoads although I tried really hard. So what's wrong? Anyone with the same situation?
> git gud
Well, I'm not that bad with videogames. With modern ones I mean. My gaming skills were clearly developing through years but I can't beat old gameslike I did in the past.
> you have less time to master games 'cause you're an adult
Maybe yes, maybe not. In my childhood I was allowed to play my Sega Genesis / NES for about an hour per day. And still I was pretty good in gaming, I guess.
Can't wait to hear your opinions, guys. And sorry for my english.

Subconsciously you feel that video games are for children and don't play them as passionately as you did when you were an actual child, resulting in worse performance.
In today's society everyone treats children like retards. It's the "protect the kids!" mentality backfiring, as by treating kids like retards you prevent them from reaching their true potential (and I'm not just talking video games here, that'd be rather trivial).
My point is, kids learn faster and more easily, have better reaction time, and more time to spend.
A thread died for this shitpost and these cringe responses

Well, that's deep. But I think that videogame completion is based solely on my skills (that are definitely higher now)

Contra isn't hard. You're just not trying.
Just keep trying. Eventually you'll memorize the layout and enemy spawn.

kids are faster learners.

Input lag because you're not using crt_emudriver and an AMD graphics card to output native sync rates and resolution via RGB to a CRT monitor while using 1000 Hz USB polling for your controls.
I've got a very similar issue. I'll beat TMNT again or some Super Mario Kart cups, but when starting a new game, I have no motivation to keep playing after a couple of deaths.
how do you find that determination to stick with one gane and play it, instead of just qutting when you're sick of it and maybe finding a new one?
Gotta play the real games (tm)

Real games are dangerous, in a fit of losing rage you'll destroy it and my controller.

You're getting old. A person hits their peak in their mid 20s then slowly decline in their cognitive ability, eyesight, etc.

at least patience is much higher.
But still you have less free time so...
