What are some good isometric games? Or bad isometric games, too, never played much of them so I'll try out anything out of curiosity.
Ultima VII
dark savior. a lot of landstalker fans hate it but i like it because of its story and some cool dungeons. don't stop at parallel 1 though it's just the intro.
also Syndicate
Solstice on the nes
Equinoxe on the snes
The Immortal on the genesis or nes
Light Crusader on the genesis
Then there's Ladystalker on the sfc which is supposedly a spiritual sequel to Landstalker, but it looks real bad imo and I'm not sure it got translated;
an obvious choice, but a great one nonetheless.
Digimon world 3 is terrible compared to 1

this
truly a one of kind game
For something good, strategy games like Utopia and Populous.
For weird stuff, try these Game Boy games:
Altered Space (from the Solstice guys)
Monster Max (from Rare)
Ottifants: Baby Bruno's Nightmare
Fucking Diablo 1 and 2 people
Top tier
itt faggots who don't know the difference between isometric and isomorphic

Head Over Heels (1987)
Various European computer formats. I'don't especially recommend the spectrum 128k version...
>>3921218
I mean I DO recommend the spectrum version, damn autocorrect...Or the Amiga version
>>3920828
Tactics Ogre.
There are some nice run n guns, though not nearly enough.
Firo and Klawd

Also, Zen - Intergalactic Ninja.

Some of the games mentioned use an oblique perspective, not isometric. It's hard to explain the difference, so I leave it up to other anons to Google it for themselves. Some examples of oblique graphics are Earthbound and NoX.
>>3921185
Monster Max was by the same team that made Head Over Heels, very much a spiritual successor, but HOH had more appealing characters IMO
Tactics?
Shadowrun for the Snes is good, if you can get by the lame combat and dialogue
>>3921387
>lame combat and dialogue
Are you talking about the dialect?
Because thats how people talk in shadowrun universe you dork. It's not lame.
>>3921124
still fucking nauseating
>>3920879
> I'm not sure it got translated;
It's been 'almost done' for over a decade.
I wish that guy wouldn't even pretend to work on games so that other people might actually try to translate them instead. But no, we wouldn't want to step on the toes of a poof who's never realistically gonna touch the games again.
>>3921185
I never understood how to play utopia
like, what am i supposed to do?
>>3921394
I am loathe to admit it because I grew up with and loved the SNES version. But, the Genesis version is superior in every way, except arguably in terms of music.
The dialogue in the SNES version was just weak compared to the Genesis one
>Null sweat, chummer
>Slot this cred and I'm gone
The SNES does an okay job of showing the world's jargon, but FASA corp had a much more solid presentation overall.
Well Fallout, obviously. Torment. Diablo.
But you're talking about Iso Platformers, I assume. Ultimate Play The Game was the king of those games back in the day when I only could enviously look at pictures of them in magazines. I didn't even know anyone with a computer that wasn't an Apple or IBM back then. Solstice straight up frustrated me when I finally got to play it. By the time Landstalker and Alundra came out I had the necessary skills but I was already starting to get over the genre. The only "classic" isometric game I ever really deeply enjoyed was The Immortal
Here's some Amiga eye candy though. I rediscovered this chestnut a few years ago and it is so fucking tedious. Fetch fetch fetch fetch fetch.
ufo defense, terror from the deep, and apocalypse
>>3920828
That's the best one right there OP. Nothing will ever come close. I've been looking for about 20 years for an isometric action RPG that bests Landstalker.
WHAT DOES THE BLUE RIBBON DO?
Maybe Dark Seal.

if you wanna be all pedantic about it none of the stuff in this thread is isometric projection, it's actually dimetric projection. 25.565° angle instead of 30, because that makes it a 2:1 pixel ratio appropriate for pixel art.

And here's an educational pic

that is beautiful.
sadly, I never played something like that...

Lose interest and go back to Mario Paint, which will use your SNES mouse more effectively.
I mean I don't think Utopia is a very good game. :(

Dark Ages / NexusTK?
I used to have so much fun in Dark Ages.
The hunting was always grindy, but it had a political system and a religious system.
In the political system, there were players elected by citizens of the major towns who made the laws, and others who enforced them.
In the religious system, there were like 12 gods and each had their own temple. Each religion had a player as the head cleric or whatever, and then a bunch of positions under that all the way down to "follower". Non priests could become acolytes (2nd lowest rank) and only priests could go higher up.
Furthermore, there were 5 paths (classes) and a sub-path system. You'd level to 99 and either become a pure master or you'd "sub" and become a level 1 of another path, have your stats reset (level back to 1, and strength, wisdom, etc back to 1) but keep all of the abilities you learned from the other path. You could only sub once for a character. Then you could become a master in that class anyways. Pure masters get access to pure-specific abilities AND non-pure-specific abilities (for masters of that class), and the sub ones could get the non-pure-specific abilities (but they have all the non-master abilities from their previous class anyways).
There was also a lot of people willing to roleplay, and game events where people would gather to roleplay and stuff.
The storyline and quests was themed to H.P. Lovecraft's writings. There were some major quests but you didn't have to do them and you definitely couldn't get to 99 just by questing; you HAD to hunt with others.
With the exception of sub-pathed people, you pretty much can't solo (you can be "leeched" by a high level char, but that usually costed a lot), so everyone was forced to form groups and go hunt together. I miss that in MMOs; soloing completely defeats the purpose of an MMO and it's just become easier and easier to do it in most MMOs today.
DA is almost dead and infested with an awful community now.

So you geek some slot’s hoop? And that’s just wiz biz, chummer? Then buzz turbo, and that’s the chip-truth? So ka, and does that make me a gillette, omae? This grandpa-style slang is null persp

It was probably even worse on Amiga I suppose.

Solstice, very nice platform puzzler for the NES.

How does one stalk Land anyway?
>>3930449
I know you're trying to be dumb funny, but you just come off as illiterate. Stalking can be used for meanings such as search or prowling. So a land-stalker could be a hunter or investigator or any such similar thing.
>>3930794
Dude I'm just super into this one Land but she won't notice me and I want some tips to maybe look through her landfill and tap her landline without getting into trouble
Geez, if you can't come up with any actual advice just ignore the question bro
