Do you limit yourself to a certain amount of credits when emulating arcade games?
>>

Of course.
Save states are faster especially if remapped to F5/F7
>>
>>3903376
No, the point isn't to "beat" the game but to keep doing better and better and to use less credits the next times.

If you think the point is to beat the game, then how do you even decide how credits to use. It's completely arbritary, not to mention not every game has similar credit systems or difficulty.
>>
ONE CrEDIT ONLY BIIIIITCH
>>
>>3903376
My method is to get through the first half of the game on one credit. Once I've mastered the first half, I start using extra continues to familiarize the second half. That way I master both halves and can beat the game with one credit.
>>
>>3903435
just use states, it's much more convenient.
>>
Yes, I always limit myself to 1 credit only.

First, I practice until I can beat the 1st stage. Then I make a save state, so I can practice stage 1 and stage 2 independently. This is cheating slightly, but functionally it's the same thing as the stage select option found on most home console ports of arcade games.

Once I can beat stage 1 and stage 2 on a single credit individually, I chain them together and practice beating them back-to-back. Then I make another save state between stages 2 and 3, and repeat the process.

Always 1 credit. If I mess up, I start the stage over from scratch.

>states
Nah
>>
>>3903376
Yeah I go with one credit because it's a lot more intense when there's something at stake. If there's no risk of failure I get bored.
>>
>>3903486
>playing through early, boring as fuck levels every time you need to practice something in the last
it's your time, my dude
>>
>>3903376
>pic unrelated
You can't continue in Gradius you retard.
>>
>>3903376
1CC would be the most ideal.

Metal slug anthology on the PSP had unlockables for beating the games using under 10 credits and that inspired me... (though I later found out you could just cheat by starting the games with unlimited credits, waiting until you're on the final screen, saving, exiting, switching the credit count and difficulty, and then go back and beating the game)
>>
>>3903392
WRONG PLEBIAN CUNT,these games are all designed with 1 credit in mind as demonstrated by the score counter behaviour.
>>
>>3903978
UH YES YOU ACTUALLY CAN IF YOU'RE NOT PLAYING THE OFFICIAL JEW VERSION OK SO STFU BITCH!
>>
>>3903629

Depends on the game and in the long run it helps with consistency and execution ratio.
>>
>>3904059
You can't in the arcade, now fuck off.
>>
>>3904072
YES YOU FUCKING CAN STOP PLAYING THE WRONG VERSION BIZNITCH AND LEARN TO SHUT DA FUCK UP!

Depends what I'm trying to do.
>>
>>3903376
I put one credit in and quicksave after every enemy. It's pretty much a 1cc.
>>
>>3903376
play with the change i have on me in theory
>>
>>3904301
That is the exact opposite of a 1cc.
>>
>>3904301
Pretty good bait

Way to miss the point entirely.
>>
Yeah, I always stick with three credits for myself.
Not too strict but not too generous. It's the perfect middle ground.
If I'm playing co-op like in Metal Slug then I go with three credits per player.
If it's just a 1-on-1 competitive game then we'll just credit feed and keep fighting each other.
>>
>>3903376
Yep. 1 credit only.
>>
To recreate the joyous arcade moments of my youth I limit myself to about 4$ per game. so a good 8 credits depending on the genre.
