Everquest / Project 1999 / Progression servers / Live.
Anyone still play? 18 years old and still going strong with tens of thousands of players. Recently started on p1999 and regressed back into my high school years of spending 18 hour sessions lost in another world poop socking camps. There is a new official PoP-locked progression server (Agnarr) opening soon which has me hard as a rock.
Nothing ever will come that close to the terror that is losing your corpse in the bottom of Seblilis with no friends to drag it out, being forced to watch your cobalt rot. Or fucking up breaking into fear, or the open world raid drama (it's never not entertaining when 30+ nerds will stare at a wall for 15 hours). One of the last MMORPG's where people actually needed to be social and rely on each other to function as their cog in the group machine.

Windows 10 has native mounting for ISOs.
Windows 7 you should use Wincdemu
Titanium client off TPB worked fine for me. Just remember to download the updated spell files off the forums.

I tried one of the Zek's on live circa kunark-velious but population was ass there too. Is there actual depth to it? Or just the fear of getting your shit pushed in exping in places that are already punishing enough?

Rallos had a nice population back in those days, the team servers was were it was lacking because you were split up, especially Sullon Zek.
Rallos Zek had free for all PvP and item loot, but that quickly turned into a Guild War server it was Guild vs Guild for the best Zones.
The others were your Teams trying to Compete for Zones gear up and dominate the other Teams.

Pretty sure I was on Sullon as neutral race? I think there was 3 factions. Evil assholes walked all over everyone that much I remember.

Yeah good newt and evil. Vallon and Tallon Zek were also team based PvP.
The Evil team didnt start off dominating the server, I think Black Prophecy did from the Good team until they transferred to the Legends Server to gear up uninterrupted. That gave the Evil team to form Hate and they took over, and they had the best PvPers.
Some would argue Rallos was harder due to the early days casting any AoE would hurt your Group/Raid since you were all flagged for PvP so when exping or Raiding some spells/songs werent viable and would cause wipes.
