does /vr/ like the deception games?

Deception is weird as shit but I liked it then Kagero seemed like maybe it was more accessible but I didn't get into it. They both make sweet monsters in Monster Rancher.
it's a pretty novel idea.
i like how grim all the games are.

I'm a rather big fan of the second title Kagero: Deception 2.
1 and 3 are great, but nothing gets me going like 2. Probably because it was the first one I played, but the whole experience for me is 9/10
I'll say the first one is the least enjoyable for me. The first person aspect seemed off. Glad they switched to third
Just started 2 for the first time a couple days ago. Been playing it non-stop all weekend. I'm on the final chapter now, killed absolutely everyone during the 25 other chapters.
Anyone got any tips for the King? Only did one attempt before bed last night and managed to kill the knights and the TMD priest fine but the King got me. Not used to using the environment traps back in the starting mansion.

In the first game, is there any reason not to put your traps right inside the front door? I didn't play it very long as a kid but that's what I remember--there was no reason to use the rest of the castle.
Has some nice music

Millennia a cute.Is IV on the ps4 any good?
>>3873380
It's pretty good. Get Nightmare Princess, though. Vanilla 4 is literally invalidated
So what's the concensus on 2 and 3? Does 3 improve on the gameplay?
>>3873475
Nice, thanks.
Tips for diff endings in Kagero 2?
Can't you let people escape in Kagero? I played through the first several missions thinking there was a way if I "softened" 'em up first, but they all still stupidly walk towards me at 0.5 health and then die.
This shit's depressing.
>>3872593
Yeah, I've enjoyed every game in the series. Kagero/2 is my favorite of the retro entries.
>>3873154
Enemies don't necessarily begin next to the door, or even on the first floor. If they do, it still might not be the most practical place to engage them. Tougher groups are also likely to endure a good number of trap hits before going down; a few traps in the entryway won't be sufficient.

2 and 3 are nearly identical in terms of gameplay. Deception 3 has a little more trap customization, but a weaker plot and cast of characters.

Some enemies can be frightened off, but others are determined to fight to the death. It just depends on the character/mission. Generally, peasants and scouts can be spared, but professional killers targeting Millennia aren't likely to back down.
It's easy to spare Daar in the first mission, but Slash in the second is a hot-headed moron that has to die.

Thanks for the comment about the traps, I guess I didn't play it long enough as a kid. We only rented it once. The other main thing I remember was a little bit of Christian moral panic because the game mentioned Satan on the back of the box. Totally overblown, just like the "sexual themes" in Parasite Eve, lol. Sometimes I think that stuff was designed just to get reactions from moms at Toys R' Us
