Are Vectrex controllers compatible with the Master System

No. You've probably seen someone using a Genesis controller on Vectrex with an adapter (that I'd like to find an example of). Why would you even want to do the reverse?

No way, analog sticks on digital games are a liability. Are you aware there was a little stick you could screw into Master System pads? Should give you whatever you might have been looking for from a Vectrex controller.
