Does anyone know more about those connections? I know that every portable Digimon game plus Digimon World 2 and the Pocket Digimon World can connect to each other in Japan using the Digimon Link System, but I haven't heard of a PS2 connection.
NANI?! Retro connecting to... N-NON-RETRO?

Woah, this is interesting.

It's not too strange. Such gimmicks with device connection have always been mutually beneficial for both parties. So it's no wonder home console makers made weird alliances with SNK/Bandai for this purpose. Both wanted Nintendo out of the market.

can you even download anything on wonderswan?

what's the point of this?

Somewhere between the Game Boy and GBC timeline, Hudson implemented infrared sensors in a few of its games. Which is to say, the actual game cartridges themselves had built-in sensors. I guess this was done to ensure the games had connectivity features even if played on a DMG or GBP, since GBC was still relatively new at the time.

Anyway, the functionality was called GB KISS. It allowed players to send text messages to each other, as well as store special content downloaded from one's computer. I think Pocket Bomberman also included computer software to allow users to create and share custom stages.

Another one. It could be used on GBC but also on GBA!

I tought the mobile adapter wasn't that obscure

In japan Pokémon Crystal actually used it for events and the first ever online battling

Yeah, the Mobile Adapter isn't that obscure, thanks to the Pokémon game, but it could be used on GBA, and it's rare to see someone talking about this.
