what're your favorite real time strategy games?
mine's pic related. i've been wanting to play settlers 3 for nostalgia, but the only version i can find requires a serial key, so i've been playing 4.
honorable mention to galactic battlegrounds
>tfw just barely retro
I know it sounds very mainstream, but for me the best single player RTS campaign is Starcraft+Broodwar and multiplayer is AOE2+expansions.

>still active after 18 years thanks to fans and the remaster
>doesn't win Steam's "Test of Time" Award
>>3837417
fuck steam, this game has survived all this years thanks mostly to Voobly. And a bit to Gameranger.
>>3837417
Even if the award was fair, would still lose to Doom.
>>3837426
Doom wasn't even nominated, the awards were a total shitshow top to bottom.
>>3836923
I don't care if this game barely qualifies as a Real Time Strategy game or Retro.
In still love it.

HD lags so hard it probably dropped votes 11

AoE2, followed closely by pic related and Outpost 2: Divided Destiny
>>3838935
Still should've won because AoE2 was the only game on that list that is actually /vr/

Stronghold Crusader
There are so much ways to siege your opponent castle. Nothing beats going full Khan and spam horse archer.
Warcraft 2
>>3836923
The ones I played the most were Warcraft 2 and Red Alert... some Starcraft too.
>>3838015
Why was the series forgotten? I played Myth 2 recently for the first time and despite the somewhat dated graphics I was blown away by how well the gameplay still holds, the control scheme lets you do everything that's expected from a modern RTS/RTT and the level design is both challenging and innovative, its such an well made game it deserves more recognition.
Total Annihilation is still RTSOAT.
