Pilotwings 64 is much better and has more personality but the original is a good early release on SNES imo.

I like Pilotwings and F-Zero use of mode 7, but I mostly prefer effects on 2D sidescrollers like pic related.
The Golem boss in this game was also pretty cool.

I adore all the Pilotwings games. They're all in my top 20. I go back and forth on whether I like the SNES or N64 one best. Both have stellar music. I like 64's more relaxed pace a lot, but I like the challenge and early SNES feel of the original.

As for Mode 7, lots of good games in all genres use Mode 7, but as for the best "Mode 7 Games" I'd go with PW, F-Zero, and Super Mario Kart.
