what is the best affordable retro game delivery mechanism that ISN'T emulation?
>>
>>3823434
Burned games.
>>
Probably a Genesis and an Everdrive. Depends on your definition of affordable and what kind of experience you're trying to have.
>>
>>3823440
>>3823448
These. The cheapest way you can play older games without emulating is to only buy used hardware and use flashcarts or burned CDs to play every game
>>
A hacked Wii. yeah I know that's actually emulation but it's also on hardware so... a bit of a gray area, huh?

Not really retro but you can grab a Gamecube for like 30 Canada-bucks and that shit lasts forever

I suppose technically the correct answer to your question is a Nintendo Mini NES or that shitty SEGA Genesis thing with pre-loaded games.
>>
>>3823434
Freedos, ReactOS or Win98 box, I guess.

It might kind of demand being rounded out with a bit of emulation, especially if you were running freedos or reactOS with an Atom-level CPU.
>>
>>3823434
>delivery mechanism
Aliexpress standard shipping. Not sure why all these faggots are talking about playing games when you were clearly asking about a delivery mechanism.
>>
Poly station, or any famiclone
and a 99999999 in 1 cartridge
>>
>>3823808
That's not a kind of mechanism, it simply uses a common type of mechanism.

Nor is it actually fitted for games. Something like that would be gog.

suppose i wanted to play all the console games from say, atari 2600 through ps3 (including pal exclusives) using flashcarts and modded systems. How much am i looking at?
>>
>>3823802
The NES mini is definitely emulation. Just saying.

>>3823440
>>3823448
These are the only real answers as they're the only options other than emulation. Clone consoles generally use built-in emulators and real hardware clones (like the AVS) are expensive.
>>
>>3825060
Why don't you look it up
>>
>>3825205
ballpark it for me. i want to know what i'm getting into. I want to control everything from an xbo/ps4 wired joy via an interface like kodi. i think i'll have to custom order a piece of electronics that will allow me to use said joy with all those systems and probably another custom built board to control the loading mechanisms for the flashcarts, but it will be worth it in the end. I don't drive my ferrari anymore.
>>
>>3823798
How do you emulate without hardware? I'm skeptical that you could yet intrigued that you may.
>>
>>3823798
this
>>
>>3825247
He means to say it's emulation but it's emulation that isn't running through software abstraction
>>
>>3823434
if CDR friendly burned games.

if not everdrive for cartridge based games.

Choose only one.

But seriously, theres no reason to be so pedantic. If you just want to play games, soft mod a wii or use dosbox. Physical media is just nostalgia, and nostalgia isn't cheap.

Befriend a rich hipster with a massive collection he never touches
>tfw good friends with one and he lets me borrow any game under $100 for a week
>>
>>3823434
Real hardware + Flashcarts for cart systems or CD-R for CD systems (some need modding). Really no alternative, even a clone system (some of which are actually just emulator boxes) isn't going to be significantly more affordable and is almost certainly going to be worse.

I'd go beyond this and get a wii since it plays all Wii games and GameCube and probably is only $10 or $20 more

I know. I figured OP was referring to the specific type of emulation where you download stuff unto your PC. Having the NES Mini lets you have a physical system, which is I think what OP wants. Sorry if I'm being pedantic I just wanted to say what I meant.

>>3825863
Yes this. You can then play Twilight Princes and RE 4 for a fraction of the gamecube cost.

Yes he charges him less than $14 per day to rent his games ("Because we're friends"). Pretty cheap huh?
>>
>>3823434
What the first three poster said. But only collect if you plan on playing on a ctr otherwise there really isn't a point in not just emulating.

What >>3825321 meant was that his friend lets him borrow games that are *valued* at less than 100$'s. Learn to read.
