Can we please talk about this fucking classic masterpiece of vehicular combat gaming.

Fun time period [X]
Fun, creative and great characters and vehicles [X]
Great levels [X]
Great weapons that each had extra functions and attacks with proper button combos [X]
Fucking AMAZING soundtrack (The N64 soundtrack fucking blows the PSX version out of the water somehow) [X]

How about telling us what game is it instead of being a faggot and assuming we all know?
>>

Did the youtube link not give it away?

Vigilante 8 was a fantastic fucking game.
>>
>>3822605
I can only remember it as "Twisted Metal wannabe"
>>
>>3822605
I love it, I just wish it didn't feel like it lacked personality. I can't help comparing it to twisted metal 2 though
>>
>>3822605

I put my time into the sequel on dreamcast, I thought it was very well executed. I remember desperately wanting it to have online multiplayer.

Unfortunately the car combat genre died out, so I guess nobody will ever experience that.

How does it lack personality?
>>
Vigilante 8's graphics destroyed Twisted Metal's
>>
>>3822605
I agreed up until that last point. I greatly prefer the soundtrack of the PS1 version, plus you can burn a disc full of 70s hits and play it during the game if you want.
>>
>>3823601
they released V8 on xbox live. Its been graphically "enhanced" but I still found it fun playing online with my brother after I moved away.

Art style

What do you mean the weapons had extra functions?
>>

Loved it as it was a car-combat game with Fatalities.

Each car had its own move you could do to finish off an opponent which was pretty cool. Also, destructible areas on the map the could be used to destroy opponents.

But soon you had Rougue Trip and a bunch of other car-combat games, they over-saturated the market, and the genre pretty much faded away and hasn't come back as big as it was back when this game came out. You would think with online that these types of games would still be made but I don't know WTF happened and why nobody has tried more car-combat games.

You know those weird mines that would grapple you and not let you go? Left, Right, Down, machine gun. You're welcome.

You can make the weapons do different things when you input a joystick combination.

The N64 soundtrack sound so childish

Just how delusional do you have to be in order to think some lazy and muddy MIDIs sound better?

While looking for Dreamcast games to try out, I saw people talking about Star Wars: Demolition as being Vigilante 8 with Star Wars stuff in it. I think it's terrible. Vigilante 8 is still great though.
>>
I loved the V8 games, even more than the Twisted Metal games other than Black.

But seriously, the N64 versions blow ass.

>But seriously, the N64 versions blow ass

Better music, 4 players and a secret level? How.
>>
>>3824606
>Better music
Lmao
>>
>>3824606
>4 players
You wouldn't see shit anyway on a 20' sony trinitron back in the 90'. 2 players splitscreen was already pushing the vision to the limits in any game, that was the reason they were almost non existent.

I would rather pick better graphics and music.
>>
I played the shit out of this game and got a shitload of replay value out of it as I learned all the ridiculous dpad moves + unlocking the secret level. The first vehicle I used was that bus that could shit on people.
>>
>tfw second offense sucks
>the XBL Arcade version is pretty crap and has retarded physics
>owned by Activision

>>3824790
The N64 version actually ran better than the Playstation version, and the graphics were definitely better. It even had a higher res mode that the Playstation version didn't.
>>
>people could even play the ps1 version of V8 2
I couldn't stop running into walls because they wouldn't appear until I had already hit them. Fuck the ps1
