I don't know about essential but I really enjoyed the Magic Knights Rayearth game on there, it plays like Zelda but you have three character all of whom get different powerups and it has that 90's bad-anime aesthetic that I enjoy.

Be hard to find a better RPG than Panser Dragoon Saga. Also if you like traditional JRPS Albert Odyssey is right up your ally.

For action games Burning Rangers is among the best. Steep Slop Sliders is a great snowboard game also.

For platformer if you like the art style Astal is a good platformer. It's unique in its art style. Super Tempo is another one.

If you like Doom clones Poweslave is excellent. Nice difficulty and wide range of weapons and secrets. Might not like it if it's your first Doom clone since it is a bit tough.
