The NES recently arrive, funny thing is the first Nintendo console was the last I bought, I will get tomorr a DVDR Philips that I will use to hook up to my BVM using the component input, since it has some upscaling processing , a great comb filter , the only console I will have to stay with composite =/

It's not too messy but it's a manchild setup. A good setup will have doors to keep the shit away from sun and dust. You can use glass if you want to impress children on the internet. Or go with a simpler material and the only indication you have a retro setup will be the nice CRT.

Not him, but in theory the GCN has better/cleaner component output than the Wii. There's a comparison image out there, but I don't know the specifics nor have I compared the two myself. Some people also probably just like playing on the true original hardware. I hardly ever play GCN games or Wii games, but if I were ever to get GCN component cables I'd probably make use of them instead of playing the games on a Wii.

Yes, distorted picture. Ironically, a curved screen distorts the proportions of the image and warps geometry. Humans do not see the world convexly.

>>
>>3792620
>Flat glass will never have perfect geometry on the image edges
Wrong. You can get nearly perfect geometry with flat screens, especially with professional and broadcast monitors specially designed with that in mind.

Broadcasting and studio reference equipment haven't used curved CRTs since the fucking 90s.

And yeah, your 8042q looks like garbage. Curved screen with overscan.
>>
>>3792639
If you knew dick about broadcast equipment you would know that overscan is adjustable ( it has a fucking overscan button) this TV was made in 01 and ia curved and in fact no flat glass Trinitron broadcast equipment exists at all.

>"either an absolutely abhorrent mess of cords that looks like it's the dwelling of an 8 year old"

all this is. all of this is the culmination of an embarrassing fixation with "actual hardware, just plug and play bro, that's the real deal" and a fetishism with phyisical objects. the ultimate station is no other than a computer running a frontend with most games ever made for most platforms worth caring about readily available, never dying because they're digital, with upgrades like a comfortable ui uniting everything, no phyisical clunky mess, one control for all, or even the portability of a laptop.

these look like a kids room. like you have money and you just HAVE to spend it on something because that's what people with money do.

epic, friends, truly epic stations.

I'll bite. You have garbage on your computer desk. You're using one of the worst brands of consumer crt's. Saturn fan, clearly, but you have it tucked way in the corner instread of displaying it prominently beside your genny. Clutter, boxes lying on the ground, stuff stacked precariously.

Oh and the obligatory mothers furniture / 10. Judging from your large PS2 collection I'd pin you under 20, you've never played a Saturn game up until a few years ago and are jumping on the retro bandwagon.

5/10 nice effort at least.

I don't think they were denying that pvm's aren't actually flat. However due to the aperture grille tech that sony uses in their pvm's, its a LOT straighter and flatter than shadowmask crt's.

Hence why people have been asking, because that early style PVM looks a lot more like an older CRT than a PVM.

This doesn't deserve it's own thread, but does anyone have any recommendations on how to store controllers?

I keep all of mine in a cardboard box right now, except for my 64 controllers since I done want to accidently put any undue wear on the sticks. Wish I had a better way to organize them so they each have a "proper" place and can be retrieved at a moment's notice.

I was thinking about making some kind of holder that would hang on the wall but I don't want anything that'd look too faggy (I'm a burned disk and flashcart guy, I'd feel like a try hard going out of my way to display my "collection" as if it's actually worth a shit).

I've got about 20 or so controllers across 8 systems

not my image, but i've noticed cubby bookcases are popular with gaming collectors. personally i feel that the square shape is wasted because old consoles are flat and don't need that much vertical space. and newer consoles are wide with vents on the sides so it hurts airflow.

whats the ideal way to display consoles but still have them functional? (like still being able to put a cartridge in without moving the console out)
