I also only started PC gaming in the '10s and am still discovering things. Genres don't really match up.

Frankly, that's like looking for a good RTS on consoles. You'll be glad if you find a bunch of decent ports. There's nothing PC exclusive I can remember from the top of my head.

the original alice game is OK. Nothing too amazing but it's decent. Very rigid controls because its made for pointers and keys, not analog sticks.

It came out for Dreamcast, so the game itself is /vr/, the PC version is exactly the same, no remaster or remake or anything, therefore the game counts as retro.
