You need Atomiswave Bios ROM to emulate that, but I doubt you will be able to run those games. I don't think Mame is capable of emulating Atomiswave games.

Not him but maybe you could try to emulate MvC2 and Metal Slug 6 (Metal Slug Anthology Collection) with PCSX2, in Metal Slug 6 case it could be Dolphin too (using the wii version).

Those were just the first two I tried. I'd much rather be playing older games but they won't work. Got Contra running of MAME .164 but other games from that same era won't play on it. Says one or more roms or chd files are missing.

Some games require specific bios files for you to be able to play them. CPS2 games for instance need cpzn2 and qsound. Neo-Geo require neogeo in the same folder as the rom.
You should really read up on mame emulation before emulating anything.
Also why do you come to /vr/ to ask about MvC2 and Metal Slug 6 emulation?

As I wrote, those were just the first two I tried. Have tried many others and still mainly failure.

1 - Obtain roms that match the version of MAME you're using. Every time they update MAME they decide to redump and rename a bunch of the games.

2 - Obtain a 'BIOS pack' and a 'Devices pack' that most closely match the version of MAME you're using. Unzip to the same 'roms' folder as the game roms. If games are failing the audit due to missing files, it's probably because you're missing things from the BIOS and Devices packs.

3 - The two games you tried are games that don't work yet anyway. They are arcade boards that MAME hasn't started to emulate properly, even though the games are dumped and even though there may be a bios for the board. Expect this for most games beyond the late 90s.

MS6 and MvC2 use Naomi and Atomiswave boards, Mame does not emulate those well (or at all). It will show maybe two and a half textures in each title and run at 0.1 fps on an i7.

That's why it doesn't work; MAME does not emulate either of those games. Dev team is too busy adding fruit machine clones and bitching about other emulators authors for hoarding super secret info, instead of improving emulation.

Just play the PS2 versions for those games, PCSX2 runs them both.

Has anyone here had luck running Street Fighter on MAME? Got the ROM for the US Set 1, and it doesn't seem to be working. Is there some other file I need?
