Question for collectors: I've been hunting for a new copy

Considering how easy it is to get a refund if a used game doesn't work I don't really see the point in wasting the money on a new copy. Save yourself some cash and just get a good looking used copy (or better yet get a modchip and a stack of CD-Rs)

Why does it have to be new? Used Japanese copies are pretty cheap. A used PAL copy will run you a bit more, though.

What's wrong with collecting games? I like the thought of preserving physical copies for as long as possible as a sort of time capsule. I know this is going to sound bonkers but its less for me and more for people who play video games everywhere

I asked this question last time, but I don't think I got an answer.

Is it unethical to buy the physical version, but then make a copy to a blank CD and then play it off that? I play the games that I have quite a bit, but I'm a klutzy asshole and I can almost guarantee I'd wreck something.

If you know anything about collecting and have really been searching for this for years then that's what you're going to pay. If you're a bandwagon ebay exclusive collector that's what you're going to pay. If you're anything else you wouldn't have started the thread.
But yes, the price is stupid. I'll be in Japan next week and have keep an eye open for this. If I find a sealed copy for the usual sort of price common sealer jap PS games go for I'll buy it and give it to my 4 year old niece to open and play while eating a fudgsicle.
