I like this game.
Do you like this game?
I first played it on MAME in the early 2000s.

I like that game
Monster Lair is better. Plus, the music kicks ass, especially on the PCE CD version.

I think the music of the Mega Drive version was the best. I believe it's much better than the arcade version. That drums :)
It's my favorite Wonder Boy too.

I think Wonder Boy/Monster World is one of the few series where I like each and every game for their own individual reasons.
My favorite is Monster World III though.

I LOVE this game, dude. Wish the secret dolls were a bit less of a pain in the ass to collect, though.

I think I prefer the Sega Master System port to the arcade version for the cleaner interface and slight tweaks. Very fun game but the sequels get better over time.
It's disappointing that the PC Engine port of Monster Land was so arcade-perfect... but had to swap out all its main sprites for that stupid sticker-collecting tie-in crap. The game would be great if it didn't look like you were playing some shitty romhack.
Wait, my bad, Monster Land is the sidescroller with rpg elements right? I thought we were talking about Wonder Boy 1.
Anyway, I disliked how you were expected to refight Bosses to farm gold. Items are too expensive in this game.

I don't think I ever had to refight bosses to farm gold, I just go out of my way to look for places where coins may be hidden in a timely manner. I stick with the arcade version though, SMS isn't as good.

How bad is the time limit in the arcade?
Do you die from timeovers regularly?

Sometimes you might lose an hourglass if you're not doing well, I think that costs you one heart. There are hourglass resets everywhere though, so it's not so bad. It's a nice way to carry over the idea of making you think and move quickly, like hunger from the first game.

Speaking of gold, was joystick waggling to increase gold collection intentional? Or a bug? I loved doing that and having a gold bag give me 69 coins or whatever.
