I just got myself to listen to "chiptune" stuff a week or two ago, while I've obviously listened to retro OSTs my whole life I never really felt like finding more things like that.
I'm starting out with these :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smnPns0keDY
30 videos so far uploaded https://www.youtube.com/user/Krelez/videos
The guy always has the playlist and a download for all songs in the comments. Bitrate isn't always the best but since it features a bunch of artists it's rather varied, I found some pretty nice tracks so far (I'm still at 5-6/30).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_IFcIrmawQ
I hope my post is on-topic because there's no way in hell I'm going to /mu/ to discuss retro music/chiptune.

MD Castlevania OST is just excellent, they actually used many of the tunes in the later Metroidvanias.

It's funny. If, 10 or 15 years ago I had seen a Game Boy used in a cartoon or something like OP's pic, I would have been all like "Oh, sweet, a Game Boy!", but now it just reminds me how much I hate modern "nerd" culture.
Anyway, have some more Jeroen Tel. My favorite, Cybernoid. I love that each song runs for like 6 minutes without looping. To be fair, each song was the only one in their respective games.

My favorite chiptune right here. Still listen to it after so many years of finding it on some keygen.

does anyone here make their own chiptune? what program do you use?

Tandy version of Sentinel World Future Magic's intro, space and landing music. Unfortunately, it's never been remastered, so the Tandy's 3 voice version is the best we got. The PC speaker and C64 versions actually sound worse.
>>3725107
I also got this for ya. Tecmo really pulled quite a bit out of the Gameboy for the OST, imo. Kinda like the second GB Castlevania's OST was so good.

If you're able to, try out Impulse Tracker 2.14. It has a awesome interface that reminds me of the old school trackers, and is extremely fun to play around with. It has some pretty nice stock sound files as well.

The guys who do Steven Universe do videogame covers on their YouTube and band amp albums. I don't think many people listen to the. Which surprises me since SU has a rabid fan base.

I think it's a pretty good show
fanbase is cancer though
>>3736719
I feel it takes a lot of inspiration in it's musical choices and color pallete from older 16-bit games, so I can dig it.
But you're absolutely right about the fanbase. Don't fucking go near it. It's like "Undertale" levels of awful.
