Different buddies are needed for different puzzles. You need all the heart stars. Some are pretty tough.

Well the game is easy for the most part. Except for figuring out what you need to do to get a star.

For land levels, I tend to pick the cat or the birds. The hamster and the medusa always felt weak to me. For water levels, the fish owns everything. Well, it's kinda ok for ground too, but it jumps funny.

Cool combos I remember:
Cat+broom—slide forward bringing death to everything
Cat+fire—shoot wave of fire
Fish+fire—shoot fireballs
Fish+lightning—hold a lightbulb which hits enemies, you can still move around
Canary+lightning—control the bird like an RC plane
Haven't played it in years though, forgot most stuff.
