Can we have a Simcity thread?
I'm currently deciding where I can go to relive Simcity 2000. Can't find my CD anymore.

I used to have SC2k SE but I lost the disc too. It had my favorite version which was the windows version. It seems like the only one you can get nowadays is the dos version.

Nothing beats playing SimCity on your SNES while lazing around watching TV. If play the game constantly, you end up doing too much; it's best to let your city ferment.
That being said, a lot of SimCity stopped being as fun when I learned about [spolier]donut blocks, no roads, and that pollution spills off the map and doesn't count.[/spoiler]
I think 2000 was my favorite, although I was too young at the time to fully master it (simple things like forgetting to supply water to my city). I really need to give it another try.
porntipsguzzardo, ftw.
I tried playing SC3000 but Win10 just hates it.
Whenever I tried running a city the game just crashed and the audio was fucked.

I can't remember about the pollution, but you know the manual tells you that donut blocks are the most efficient building method and that the best cities have no roads, right?
OP here, great news. I found a working Windows version here: http://freegogpcgames.com/807/simcity-2000-special-edition/
I then proceeded to somehow lose 5 hours just building up my city to 120k+. That being said...
>Orb monster decides to pay a 2nd visit, guessing he was too lenient the first time
>Causes plane to crash in couple location
>While distracted, my fusion plant got destroyed too
>TFW 15 minutes spent just placing firefighters everywhere to put out the damn fires
>TFW 30 minutes wasted just replacing the roads, power lines, and re-zoning
Being a mayor is suffering. I lost over 1/2 my budget because aliens wanted to be a colossal douche.
2000 was my first simcity, but I still prefer 4. I still have the 2000 cd rom somewhere, maybe I'll try playing it again later. Any tips?
Anyone play cities skylines? Jesus its sim city on steroids

I played as a sort of bleeding edge mayor, but it worked. I added minimal police/firemen/schools/power plants, and expanded whatever zone was in the positives. If all 3 are doing okay, I keep expanding on residential. I was really strapped for cash for the first 50 years or so, but it got better once my population reached ~25k and higher, since at that point the revenue began outpacing City Ordinances and Police upkeep noticeably. After 100k people, I was really rolling in the money.

Why is Windows 3.1 so much sexier than Windows 95?
R = C + I
what are the ratios like in 2000?
In 3000 it starts out with the I:C demand ratio being around 4:1, and it goes towards 1:4 when the city gets big. Does 2000 do anything different?

Anyone have a link to the Mac version of the Urban Renewal Kit? There don't appear to be any copies of it online.

I don't know the exact ratios, but yes, the early game favors industrial and the late game favors commercial.
