How about a Namco Museum/arcade thread?
I just got Vol. 4 and I'm loving it.
Pac-Man is so cute. I want to be his friend and visit Pac World.

Awesome series. What other volumes have you played, anon?

I have the first 3, and I've emulated the fifth.
As for non-retro versions, I've played the GBA version, the first Xbox game, DS, and Megamix.

>Rated K-A on Vol. 1 and 3-5
>E on Vol 2.
How odd. I was under the impression only Vol. 1 and 3 were reprinted.
The volumes got slightly less comfy as it went past 2 or 3.
The improved controls in the later volumes were really needed in the previous games.
The black room in one of the later games that need "activating" was bullshit and was nearly impossible to discover without being tipped.
The museum design in one of the later games were fucking shit.
9/10 they're ok

>X-Room was bullshit
Was there even a way to get the code in-game? Like how the secret Tower of Druaga was supposedly given if you beat the original game?

I had 4 and the museum mode was pretty straightforward.
There was this neat easter egg that involved grabbing a pickaxe in the museum and finding a secret room in the Tower of Duraga room.

That was cool, but that was Volume 3.
4 had a secret version of Return of Ishtar (with secret room), Assault Plus (the X-room), and little things in the Pac-Land and Genji and the Heike Clan rooms.
4 and 5 were the best museums IMO.
The only museum I've played was 50th anniversary on the GameCube
Was there any reason why Namco Museum Encore was released only in NTSC-J format?

Two guesses:
Difficulties in making the game (apparently they had to strip the museum due to the games they included) and it made importing difficult.
Or the other games didn't sell well in the US and they saw no point.
Musical bump.

I only own 1 and 3. 2 is not common and the last other 2 are japan exclusives right? Right now I am trying to archieve all the music from these.games into one package. It would be nice to own all the games though ;_;

Volumes 4 and 5 were released in the United States. Only Encore was Japan-exclusive.
