2 is more of an arcade game but its still fun
3 comes on 2 cds for Japan and was butchered to 1 disc for PAL and US back in the day. It got fan translation literally two days ago. It has anime cutscenes, heavy story and story actually has multiple endings depending on your choices. Its very 90s. Recommended. AC3 plays exactly the same as 4/5/0, AC2 plays also the same but it doesn't have the "hold triangle to follow target" feature which makes it a bit different but there are a ton of planes to buy and levels are aesthetic as fuck with its orangey sunsets and Top Gun tier music.

Tomb Raider 1 is still bearable even without quick saves.
TR3 on the other hand...

Pretty much any of the Squaresoft RPGs you can think of that were released on it (there were some absolute misses, but chances are you can't think of their names without looking for a list of bad games.) This was Square's golden age here. There were some great RPGs from other publishers as well, some even far better than these, but you can't really go wrong here.

Vanark is pretty neat - it's the closest thing the PS1 has to a Starfox game. Trap Gunner is an awesome two player game, and Rising Zan is a lot of fun in a bonkers way.

Its original and I liked the edgy narrative and whatnot, also moving FMVs as backgrounds was kinda rare and looked awesome on CRTs. Thats all great. But I played both games for the first time like a year or two ago and here's the parts that really, really suck way more than on any other tank control game of the era:

Its clunkier than clunk, there is no meatiness like in RE or DC2, nor is it bland like SH firearms. It's just... spazzy animations and sponge enemies. Also I emulated it and in some parts I had to fucking savescum the shit out of couple of sections, the game is by no means difficult but if I was playing on actual hardware I would've gotten proper mad at the developers for not thinking some shit through.

Puzzles were above average in difficulty and amount than in RE1 so that was nice. Voice acting wasn't completely terrible and I enjoyed the game enough to finish them both but it really is one of those "man I really love all the elements, or at least ideas in this game, its tailored to my desire but I will never ever touch this again in my lifetime" deals.
