I have a toaster and I wanna play the Steam version of this
Can I run it?
Nope. Square-Enix's stuff tends to have shitty optimization even on mobile when newly released.
Requirements are low compared to other recent AAA games, but still pretty high. Emulating can have lower requirements.

>want to play FFVIII Steam edition.
Buy a PS1 version and run it through ePSXe. It'll actually run better than the Steam version.
I personally would rip the discs into iso's for faster loading, but that's just me.
Also; don't pirate it fuckstick. Only kids get to pirate. Those with income should pay their way.

Probably. My pic related has no issues running any psx games on retroarch at 2x speed and a widescreen hack.
Killed my save state cause I forgot the hot keys for saving and loading kek. Anyway, OP, fellow toaster operator here. Do what others have suggested with emulation. Your setup can't be much worse than this and I run it smooth.

Why on earth would you want to play the worst numbered final fantasy?
Emulate 9 and take advantage of the framerate unlock button to blast through battles in 3 seconds

Yes, turn on original graphic mode.

You need to work on your status bar bro
Doesn't the steam version have some always online DRM? Other than steam I mean.

FF8 is almost 18 years old. The original talent is gone and development costs were compensated for long ago. Now all that remains is Squeenix and their soulless IP remake machine, rerereleasing the same games over and over ad nauseum. Keep old games alive in their original form, as there is no need to guild a lily.
Pirate away kids. Copyright that lasts too long curbs creativity rather than fosters it. Only pay for games that you enjoy and that benefits the original creators in some way.
Pirating old games is not a bad thing, it's a good thing.

It's not about the logo. Usually when posting a screenfetch it is relevant to the subject. It's a fetch of useful information about the hardware and software you're using. Which is useful in this discussion. The ascii logo is just a little irrelevant decoration.
Your perspective on this is way off, It's kind of funny.
>tfw lost my disk 1
I don't know how, I NEVER lose games.

My toaster of a laptop plays it very well. But personally, I would rather play it on my PSOne in either glorious 240p with Dolby Surround aka. Dolby Stereo 4.0 audio or.upscaled in 4K with Dolby Atmos 11.1 audio, it looks and sound better, either way
>tfw playing it in4K with Dolby Atmos 11.1 audio
