Take a break from video games altogether. The brain likes new, different challenges. Start reading more books or take up a hobby then come back to vidya in a few months.

Honestly, find another hobby to interest yourself in. You're putting too much weight onto video games, expecting them to bring you fulfillment out of a void. Focus more on sewing or whatever else. Video games will still be there when you get the itch again.

But also be prepared that once you start putting time into something physical and productive like sewing, woodworking, painting etc video games won't ever have quite the same appeal anymore. This isn't a bad thing, but something to expect.

I was going to suggest the same thing as the other anon. For a while I had no interest in games, but I've been drawing and playing guitar a lot lately, and sometimes I just want to relax and actually play video games. Variety definitely helps, so that's good you're branching out.

I was the same way but maybe for different reasons OP. I couldn't sit in front of my TV or PC anymore to play games because now that I'm a big boy with responsibilities and shit I felt like I was wasting my time and it really bothered me. I couldn't just relax and enjoy myself. Then I got into emulation on handhelds and now I can't wait till I get that 1 hour laying in bed before I go to sleep to play vidya. I started with nvidia shield but I'm trying out that little umpc at the moment gpd win. It's also really added a dent into a list of a million games I've had for years that I've always wanted to play but never sat down to do so.

Well, there are plenty of tutorials out there for all those tools like gamemaker, unity, unreal engine, etc. You CAN make a game, but it will take some dedication.

But start with smaller, simpler projects before jumping into your dream game, helps you get practice and saves you from the frustration of not being able to make what you want right away.
