Can choose weather, or have random weather during seasons. Rain makes catches harder to receive and snow caused people to slide a lot when you try and tackle someone.

Mega Man 7 and X2 both have stages where you can manipulate the weather by hitting key objects with specific weapons but the gameplay impact is relatively minor

Pokemon GSC introduced weather moves (rain dance, sunny day, etc.). Weather focused healing abilities actually were more complicated before Gen 3 came around.
