the only reason it bothers me is because I had a gameboy as a kid and it does take away from the nostalgia that the music is slightly higher pitched, not to mention it's harder on the ears.

It's weird because I actually also grew up playing LA on my Gameboy Pocket, but I can't notice the difference. I will compare side to side later.

I think it's something like only 3 % faster. I still play my super gameboy all the time despite this, but when I feel like just listening to the magic that is gameboy sounds and music I found the very best way is on a DMG with headphones or plugged into a hifi system : -).
