Wow, fuck this game. I revisited this game after 15 years seeing if my dumb, older self could fare it better than my dumb, younger self was able to.
Let me tell you, it's gotta be a strong contender for one of the worst games on the Game Boy Color. Everything in this game is intrinsically broken by principle of bad programming. Jumping? Has an input delay. Attacking? Good luck, your weapons are just barely more reliable than the sword from Deadly Towers. Navigation? Maneuvering? Half-baked control scheme (B is jump and A is attack, are you kidding me?) and level design (why are health recovery items restrained to treasure chests and why are half of them empty to deliberately ruse the player - it literally says "April Fools!" when you open these chests) topped with nonsensical enemy layout and patterns create an artificial difficulty that would make From Software cringe.
It's amazing how this came out over ten years after Super Mario Land graced the original Game Boy's launch lineup. All that time and yet that dinky little game still serves as an example this game fails to follow. I dare call it the Bubsy 3D of 2D platformers.

How do I subscribe to your blog?
Wasn't Spongebob Super Sponge on the PS1 good?
Name one licensed game besides Sunsoft Batman and Lion King that's actually good.

Most disney stuff from Capcom and Sega. Most Warner stuff from Konami.
Also not retro but the best licensed game isAstro Boy Omega Factor

>Lion King
But that game sucked. You could pretty much pick any other Disney tie-in game and it would be better than The Lion King.

Capcom's Aliens vs. Predator.

PEPSIMAN

TMNT
Donald Duck
Mickey
Goof Troop
Toy Story
Die Hard
Jurassic Park
Terminator
3 ninjas KB
Spiderman
Star Wars
Star Trek
Looney Tunes
Alien
All these Characters/series had at least one good game.
There's more I'm sure, just forgetting them or haven't played them yet.

Movie tie ins are generally bad, but gmaes for a show or comic series are generally decent. Most bande dessinee games are decent and so are the DC/Marvel games.
