Sup /vr/, I'm currently at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. Gonna use this thread to post pics.
Lots of Atari homebrews on display. Mostly 2600, but some 5200, 7800 and Jaguar games here too. (Pic is bad, but there are tons of screens in a U shape. All using really sharp Commodore CRTs too.)
Now this is cool, there's an NES game maker program being demoed. I mean, it actually lets you make NES games. This is an alpha build they're demoing apparently.
Saw Howard Scott Warshaw earlier. It was a pretty insightful talk.
Also got HSW's autograph. This is where I screwed up, I was going to bring an ET cart for him to sign but I forgot it, all I had was this Ninja Gaiden cart on me. At least he had a sense of humor about it.
Talked with him a bit. Really great guy.
I'm right over the river in Vancouver WA. Didn't even know this expo was going on.
show some mega drive stuff plox

dont forget to harass ecelebs and call them faggots op. Call Pat a loser.
Ben Heck got the Nintendo Playstation prototype to read audio CDs
Cool pictures, nigga
>>3577094
they had a real one?
>>3577094
look at all those fat bald cucks hahaha
>>3577116
They had the real one. The one from all
the videos/pictures.
They weren't able to get it to play the homebrew game that was developed, but they're "hopeful".
>>3576898
Kek. Forgot go do that. Watched part of his podcast though. Left during the Q&A for the Playstation thing
Also went to the Metal Jesus Rocks panel.
James Rolfe had a panel but I missed it. I got in line to get his autograph, but they said it was unlikely I'd get it. And I'd have to wait two hours just to see, so fuck that.
Most of the panels are over though so that's enough about ecelebs.
>>3576852
>tfw I live a few hours drive away in Canada and had no idea this was going on.
Next year in Portland.

Is that the famous video reviewer and commentator Pat Contri from his well-renowned Pat the NES Punkā¢ web show? I can't quite tell from the blurriness of the picture.
It also seems like his begrudged assistant Ian from Pat's other web series the C^U Podcast is accompanying him as well.
Shit. The vendor area's closed.
I was in earlier though, it was 95% retro game sellers. Surprisingly the prices were way lower usual in a lot of them. Actually managed to snag some decent deals.
Also my connection is really shitty in here
The arcade area is still open though. And holy shit it's huge.
Tried a pinball game and remembered how much I suck at it. (Terrible photo I just realized. My score was about 62 000, high score was about 10x that)
>>3577170
Take more blurry pictures
>>3577141
That guy seems pretty decent. Iike hid videos and his side kicks
>>3577156
What kind of prices? You sure they aren't ass rape convention prices? Magfest brings out the worst prices and resellers.
Oh my god, oh my god, is 8 bit brody there? Get a picture of him. Does he have a panel there as well?
Holy shit there's so much. And every machine is modded so they're free, you just press a button rather than inserting money. It's fucking incredible.
>>3577128
Ask Ian Ferguson why he quit his job to follow his dreams of doing lets plays with Pat
fuck off shill
>>3577249
he realized that sucking Pat's dick pays better then working at Luna
>>3577249
Too late, I had to leave - my back was starting to kill me.
This turned out way more eceleb-focused than I expected, but I'm going back tomorrow. I'm going to try to focus more on the sights rather than the people.
Also here's a pic I snuck of James. You can't really see it here, but yes, he has a huge obvious bald spot.
One last thing for the night, I couldn't really get a good picture but there was a guy dressed as Darth Vader playing the Star Wars theme on bagpipes on a unicycle over much of the day.
I can't make this shit up.
>>3577338
Wrong pic but I guess it doesn't make much of a difference
Can you ask Ian if he remembers that time I fingered him in a nightclub
I'm back.
Just got out of the Game Historian panel. When did he grow his hair out? He looks like Skrillex now.
Pretty good show though. He did a live episode about the Super Mario Bros Movie and did a Jeopardy thing afterwards. You can probably still play it, he used an online tool:
jeopardy.rocks/gaminghistorian2
Going to one more panel, then I'll be heading to the video game museum area. I'll have some way more I'm back.

Shit, I fucked that up. That's what I get for phoneposting.

I bought a two-day pass for this but I wasted my money.
Free arcade was fun but there is something deeply depressing to be in a huge crowd of sweaty manchildren and realizing that no one in your generation will ever grow up.
>>3578554
Sorry the crushing reality of gaming has only just hit you.
???????
oh shit. second row
>>3578554
This is exactly how I felt when I went to MAGFest.
Did you get this year's digthatbox collectible token?
Will you sell me one?
>>3576898
Vancouver is in Washington? I thought it was in Canada.
Went to the gaming museum area afterward. Holy shit.
I think they said they have every or almost every Atari game CIB.
>>3578625
Yup. Depends, what's your offer?
Demo kiosks
>>3578628
There is more than one Vancouver m8. One of them happens to be touching Portland.
(I hate this phone, sometimes pics will appear fine right after I take them but when they save it'll be blurry shit like this)
I didn't even know vectrex demo kiosks existed.
Never thought I'd see one of these again.
>>3578642
Americans stealing everyone's city names again. They could at least have called it New Vancouver. Or at least not picked a city that was a stone's throw from Canada's south-west border to rip off.
Centipede arcade board I guess
>>3578651
Ignorant Canadian once again forgets Washington was British territory.
Swordquest t-shirts
I don't even know what this is
Oh god
Berenstain bears next to porn. Under a glass case in a museum. Damn.
And this case is just filled with straight-up porn.
Here's the heavy hitters. The US N64 prototype and blue disk.
And the Nintendo Playstation prototype up close.
Early method for Atari piracy I guess: copy cart data to casette tapes. Never knew this existed.
>>3578687
should've snatched it up
Truly this guy had patrician taste.
>>3578693
>custard's revenge
>>3578692
There's a big fucking security guard right by the entrance. No fucking way.
This was an early substitute for multicarts? I guess?
A Computer Space machine. It's running, too. Damn.
That's about all the usable pictures I have. The rest turned out impossible to see.
I should point out that this is going on as well in the same building. Just in case you forgot that this was fucking Portland.
I'll walk around a bit more, see if there's anything else of interest. Panels I'm interested in seeing are pretty much over.
>>3578683
What's that thing next to it?
>>3577324
What a creepy faggot you are OP
>huge obvious baldspot
So what? You're the cretin sneaking pics of the guy.
>>3578554
>but there is something deeply depressing to be in a huge crowd of sweaty manchildren and realizing that no one in your generation will ever grow up.
I feel you anon, once the initial rush of being in the floor room with all the games wore off I started to feel the exact same way. The gaming historians panel was good though and overall it was a fun time
