What are some lesser known 3D platformers that /vr/ likes? I just started pic related, it's pretty fun.

Oh shit I just realized that filename is for a PSP game but I was talking about the original. How are the sequels, anyway?

Ape Escape 2 is literally Pokemon.
Ash voices the new main character.
Misty voices Natalie.
You go around capturing monkeys.
Main character even gets a little monkey riding on his shoulder. It's fucking Pokemon.
Still good though.

Ape Escape 2 is almost as fun, but it gets pretty retarded because there are more items that are more situational than convenient. PAL dub is bad, and US is 4kids level of amazing bad. Ape escape 3 is more fun. There are tons of costumes that help defeat the monkeys, and are useful rather than being completely situational. Wish Sony would acknowledge the series more.

The first one had a fuckton of Pokemon actors too for some reason.
As far as PS1 goes though it was damn good.

Interestingly, the PAL version has different VA.

This game looks clunky as hell.

I've never played it actually but it's obscure
Didn't Ape Escape sell 1 mil+ copies and have several sequels? It's not obscure.

Or he can just play a good first person platformer.

I really just wanted to bypass all the obvious suggestions like SM64, BK, Conker, Spyro, etc.
Lesser known in general. Europe only release

I am surprised AE doesn't have more nostalgic fans. It was a Greatest Hits, seems like a kid appeal game, and was the first analog PS1 title.
Ape Escape is so fucking cool, man.
The music by Soichi Terada is such timeless, well composed DnB/House.
Very humorous with the actions of the monkeys and their names and little tidbits of info.
Really simplistic but effective art design, the monkeys are so iconic you can immediately tell its ape escape when you look at them.
I wish there was something as simple but enjoyable as Ape Escape, but videogames are just different now.
